Yesterday, I decided to shift away from pizza and decided to try the chicken parmesan Panuozzo at Benvenuti in Cheshire, CT. I swear this sandwich is roughly the size of a small child 😁
This isn’t your typical chicken parm sandwich. We’re talking perfectly tender chicken, softly chunky tomato sauce with an essence of fresh garlic, and fresh mozzarella melting into bread made from pizza dough, baked in a classic gas-fired pizza oven—crispy on the outside, pillowy on the inside.
What’s a Panuozzo? It’s a Neapolitan-style sandwich made from pizza dough, baked till golden, then stuffed with outrageous amounts of deliciousness. In this case… chicken parm heaven, but on a whole different level.
Do not confuse this with your standard chicken parm hero—this is bigger, bolder, and flat-out better. Check out Benvenuti, located at the former Mr B's spot, if you are looking for a unique experience of pizza, sandwiches, and more (different than any other great spots we have in town).
