We celebrate the holiday of Juneteenth today! See the article below for the history of this holiday that celebrates the end of slavery in the U.S. The Chesterfield Township Historical Society will be developing a new exhibit exploring the long history of African Americans in the township, as part of our ongoing plans for updating our Ward Avenue museum. Crosswicks played an important role in the Underground Railroad in New Jersey, like many other Quaker communities in the region.

At 18:25 this evening, District 26 was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with reported entrapment. Rescue 2618, Car 2601, Utility 2629, and Fire Police 2619 responded. Upon arrival, units found that there was no entrapment. Units secured the vehicle & cleaned up the debris in the roadway before going available.

The Bordentown Township Police Department announces details regarding the stabbing of a 39-year-old male.

Bordentown Township Police responded to a report of a stabbing at the Love’s Truck Stop located at 2008 Rt. 206 at 2:37 pm Monday afternoon, June 15, 2020. When police arrived on location they found the victim, Adam Schools, age 39, of Yardville NJ in the front parking lot suffering from a stab wound to his left abdomen. First responders tended to the victim and he was then transported by ambulance to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, Trauma Unit, in Trenton. The victim underwent emergency surgery and is currently listed in stable condition at that facility.

At this time preliminary investigation has revealed that the stabbing occurred during a physical altercation between both subjects over a parking dispute. The suspect is identified as William Brown, age 46, of Buena Vista St. in Pascagoula MS. Brown has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and committed to the Burlington County Jail. Brown will face a detention hearing in the near future in Superior Court in Mount Holly.

Anyone with information that may assist authorities with the investigation is asked to call Det. Pavlov of the Bordentown Township Police at 609-298-4300, ext. 2128.

Brush Drop off will be open Thursday and Friday 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Saturday 8 Am – Noon, Monday June 15th through Friday June 19th from 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM. The schedule thereafter will be Saturday 8:00 AM – Noon and Tuesday and Thursday 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM. No commercial vehicles. Brush and tree limbs are limited to no more than 6” diameter. Please remember no grass clippings. Grass clippings can be disposed of at the Burlington County Resource Complex located at 22000 Burlington-Columbus Road in Mansfield Twp. There is an $8.00 minimum charge.

Almost 2 weeks since the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police, demonstrations against police brutality and racial injustice continue around the country and around the world. WBNC News was there in Robbinsville and Mansfield this weekend and spoke to community leaders organizing these events.

Chesterfield Township opened the municipal brush drop-off center Saturday for one day only, allowing residents to drop off everything except for grass clippings and branches 6 inches in diameter or greater. Although many residents were displeased by the restrictions, it was a welcome relief for homeowners with extensive damage following last week’s strong storms.

BRUSH DROP OFF OPEN ONE DAY ONLY SATURDAY JUNE 6TH
The brush drop off area will be open Saturday June 6th. It will open at 7:30 am and close promptly at 3:30 pm. It will remain closed through Tuesday June 9th to allow work to finish in that area. Please note the maximum size branch is 6” in diameter. No commercial vehicles will be allowed. You may be required to provide identification to verify residency. When available, information regarding the opening times of the drop off will be posted on our website, recycle coach app, nextdoor and facebook.

Main Street, Ward Avenue & New Street Remain Closed Tonight

Main Street, Ward Avenue, and New Street remain closed at this hour with no officials currently on the scene. Downed power lines stretch low across Main Street.

PSE&G estimates 19 homes on Main Street are still without power tonight with an estimated power restoration late in the day Friday. Ward Avenue and Ellisdale Road also have a few homes without power with the same estimated restoration time.
