I've been dragging my feet on building my page — welcome and thank you for following! Picture this, it’s 2021 and you’re looking for an honest shoe review about the Reebok Nano X1. You find countless “reviews” about the Nano X1 but they’re all reviews from big media companies using stock images and vague language to describe this shoe’s performance. As you search more, you continue to fin

d the same type of reviews and your frustration continues to grow. Who can you trust and realistically turn to for an honest review on the internet, especially when most reviews are glorified adverts? This is the pain point that spurred That Fit Friend’s Editor-in-Chief Jake Boly into action. If you ask Jake, he’ll be the first to tell you that the best recommendations you can ever receive about gear typically come from your trusted circle of peers. After all, nothing is stronger than a word-of-mouth referral from someone you trust. Knowing this and with his background in personal training which lives and dies by word-of-mouth referrals, Jake started to wonder,

“Is it possible to build a site a brand that truly embodies that ‘in-person word of mouth’ trust we all have in our lives and social circles?”

With this idea serving as the mission and guiding beacon, That Fit Friend was born.

Who is the On CloudPulse Pro *BEST* for?

These are expensive af and I don’t love that aspect, but from On’s offerings, they are by far their best training shoe.

Makes me wonder if they’ll make comparable options with lower prices in the future — if this formula works well for them!

Under Armour Halo Trainer Overview

I’ve had a lot of asks about the Under Armour Halo Trainer. I finally got around to putting them through the wringer for tests and they’ve been interesting.

From Under Armour, the Halo Trainer somewhat feels like a breath of fresh air. To me, this shoe feels like UA’s attempt at rivaling shoes like the Nike Free Metcon 6 and On CloudPulse.

It’s the type of shoe you’ll wear for things like HIIT, classes, and cross-training sessions.

For the most part, I like the UA Halo Trainer. Once broken in, it has a nice bounce to it and it’s [relatively] lightweight for how high its stack height is.

I think if you love Under Armour training shoes and like a lower heel-to-toe drop, then these can make a lot of sense for the class-focused individual.

Do I think this shoe will be a hit for everyone? Not necessarily, but that will come down to your training and foot anatomy needs.

PUMA FUSE 4 | Mini Review

This shoe isn’t for everyone. Here are a few things to like about the PUMA Fuse 4.

Nike Metcon 10 vs Reebok Nano X5 vs Adidas Dropset 3

The Nike Metcon 10 versus Reebok Nano X5 versus Adidas Dropset 3 has been a hot topic for those one the market for new training shoes.

All three of these models are what I’d describe as these brands’ more “premium” cross-training shoes.

They’re shoes built for heavy lifting, cross-training, and CrossFit, and all of them have their own respective lists of pros and cons depending on what you’re doing.

Nike Free Metcon 6 vs Nike Metcon 10 👟

The Nike Free Metcon 6 and Nike Metcon 10 are both what I’d call the frontrunners from Nike’s more premium training shoes at the moment.

Both of these shoes deliver relatively strong performance, but for slightly different reasons.

If you can understand some of their construction differences, you can make much more informed buying decisions for your training & foot needs.

Nike Metcon 10 vs Nike Metcon 9

The Nike Metcon 10 versus the 9 is a cross-training shoe match up that many have asked for on the channel.

The Metcon 9 is what I’d describe as a super polarizing trainer, in that, you either LOVE this shoe or you can’t stand it. This model is a lot more dense and stable compared to Metcons from years prior. The 10, however, has received a pretty significant overhaul with its construction.

Overall, I think the Nike Metcon 10 takes the W as the stronger shoe overall and they’ll likely transcend the 9’s popularity.

The 9 was great for lifting, but it always fell short for any workout that involved versatility, think things like jumping, running, and multi-directional movements.

Nike Metcon 10 Thoughts

Definitely a step in the right direction for the Metcon line.

Do I think it will become the best trainer on the market?

Probably not, but with Nike’s reputation and their loyalists / the Nike curious, I do think it’s going to be a much bigger hit than the 9.

It’s a bit more versatile which is awesome. They feel more athletic.

That said, it wouldn’t be my go-to for WODs with runs or workouts with short intervals.

If you need that, look elsewhere.

Part 1: Adidas Dropset 3 vs Nike Metcon 10 vs Reebok Nano X5 | TOE BOX COMPARISON

The Metcon 10 and Dropset 3 take the edge.

The Metcon is slightly wider at the base of the forefoot while the Dropset 3 doesn’t taper as much.

2E foot widths and down should be okay in them. 2E folks, tread lightly in the Nano X5.

Should you size up a half size?

If you’re dying to try one of these and love toe box room with a 2E foot width, then yes, it could be worth it.

Nike Metcon 10 Sizing and Fit Thoughts

Most will want to go TTS. Size them similarly to your other Nike shoes.

Their fit is similar to the older Metcons that have that low-profile, more athletic fit and feel.

Compared to the Nike Metcon 9, these have a snugger forefoot and narrower toe box.

The 10 also has a more aggressive arch, so flat feet and those who don’t love a ton of arch in their shoes, you’ll want to consider that when you buy.

Thoughts on these?!?

Flux Adapt Graphene Trainer Sizing

Narrow/Medium/E width feet, go true to size.

2E+ foot widths, go up a half-size.

If you currently wear Flux and have less than a thumb’s worth of space in your current shoes, go up a half-size.

These may feel a little too spacious for narrow feet with low insteps, so buyer be warned.

NEW TOLOS SHOES FIRST LOOKS

Video 1: Soleil (Barefoot)

Video 2: Soleil (Transitional)

Video 3: Canvas High (Barefoot)

Video 4: Canvas High (Transitional)

These are sweet and the outsole feels robust so they should last a while for daily wear.

The Soleil has some cool style elements and the ripstop upper should be great for cleaning purposes.

I do think sizing up a half-size will be the call for most, but we need more data and feet in them before a definitive call is made for various foot anatomies.

Full reviews and videos coming on these in the next few weeks!
