🦇 UPDATED SHOP HOURS + ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT NEWS 🦇

Hey darklings, oddballs, collectors, creators, and curious creatures!

We recently extended our Friday and Saturday hours to 9PM in anticipation of the new DeKalb Entertainment District launching on June 1st. This district will allow alcoholic drinks to be carried within the downtown district and into participating businesses.

However, the City of DeKalb has let us know there will be a delay while they await the arrival of their official startup materials. The launch is now expected to happen around July 6th.

Because of that, we’ll be rolling our hours back for now. Once the Entertainment District officially launches, we’ll re-evaluate and consider extending our Friday and Saturday hours again.

We’ve also made the decision to keep Sundays alcohol-free at the shop. “Sober Sundays” are here to stay so our sober friends, followers, families, and younger shoppers can enjoy the store without alcohol inside. We also have younger staff working that day, so this keeps Sundays comfortable and appropriate for everyone.

🕰 CURRENT SHOP HOURS:

Monday: Closed
Tuesday: Closed
Wednesday: 11AM to 6PM
Thursday: 11AM to 6PM
Friday: 11AM to 7PM
Saturday: 11AM to 7PM
Sunday: 12PM to 5PM

Thank you for rolling with the updates as downtown DeKalb prepares for this new chapter. We’re excited to see how the Entertainment District develops, and we’ll keep you posted as things creep closer. 🖤

Come visit us, browse the strange and unusual, and enjoy the odd little wonderland we’re building together.

Beautiful seal women, stolen skins, a child-eating hag with iron claws, and folklore that somehow keeps getting darker the deeper we dig.

This week we’re talking Selkies and Black Annis, the stories people told to explain fear, control, grief… and whatever was waiting in the woods after dark.

New episode out now. Bring champagne and emotional support.

A Tinder date. A birthday trip. A backpacking dream.
And three women who never made it home.

This week we’re talking about Grace Millane and Argentine best friends Marina Menegazzo and María José Coni.

Different countries. Same script.
Charm first. Headlines later.

March 1, 1692.

A date soaked in fear and sealed with self righteousness.

Today isn’t about spooky aesthetics or pointy hats. It’s about what happens when paranoia grabs the mic and nobody bothers to fact check it. Twenty people executed. Families torn apart. All because hysteria wore a holy mask and called itself justice.

The Salem Witch Trials weren’t about witches. They were about control. About silencing women. About fear spreading like wildfire while logic stood outside knocking.

So yeah, I’ll light a candle today. 🕯️
Not because I’m summoning anything.
But because I remember.

Remember the ones labeled “dangerous” for being different.
Remember how quickly a crowd can turn.
Remember that history has a habit of repeating itself when we get lazy with the truth.

Stay curious. Question loudly.
And maybe… don’t hand matches to people who thrive on chaos.

Detroit doesn’t just throw parades. Detroit confronts its demons.

Meet Nain Rouge, the red omen said to appear before disaster strikes. Fires, riots, chaos, history has blamed him more than once.

So every year, the city turns the tables with a parade meant to chase him out. Costumes, noise, satire, community. A little spooky, a little defiant, very Detroit.

This clip dives into the legend, the parade, and why sometimes the best response to bad luck is showing up loud and together. 👹🎺🍾
