Listening isn’t just being quiet - it's giving someone your attention, your humility, and your heart. The Bible tells us to be “quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry” (James 1:19).

When we listen, we honor God.
When we listen, we show love.
When we listen, we allow the Holy Spirit to guide our response instead of our emotions.

Meet IPP's newest Community Navigator, Ronnie Carrasquillo (he/him)! Ronnie is an educator, advocate, and minister who uses his story of transformation to inspire others and drive change. During 47 years of incarceration, Ronnie led numerous programs inside correctional facilities, including as an IPP Incarcerated Community Navigator. With IPP's help, Ronnie was released in 2023, and now holds leadership positions in the Illinois Latino Reintegration Community Collaborative and Unshackled Building Bridges, as well as the IPP Ambassador Fellowship Program. In 2024, Ronnie was featured in the documentary In Their Hands and was also honored with IPP’s Advocate of the Year Award. 👋🏾 Welcome, Ronnie! 👋🏾

🎃 Halloween 2004 — The Night Everything Changed

While most people were celebrating darkness, God was pulling me out of it.
That day, my girlfriend (now my wife), her sister, and I went to church. Later, we watched "The Passion of the Christ" — and when it ended, something broke inside me. I grabbed my Bible, tried to read, and just started crying… then throwing up.

That night, I threw up again outside a church during a play called Heaven’s Gates and Hell’s Flames. Looking back, I know now — that was God cleansing me. The Holy Spirit was flipping the tables in my heart.

Since that night, I’ve never been the same. What used to be a night of darkness became my Deliverance Day. 🙏

💥 Brotherhood is Forged in Fire 💥

Proverbs 17:17 says, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.”

Real brotherhood isn’t proven when things are easy — it’s proven in the struggle. Behind bars, on the streets, or in life’s hardest battles… that’s where you find out who’s real.

I’ve seen God turn rivals into brothers and enemies into allies. That’s what He does — He uses adversity to reveal who’s genuine and to heal what hate once broke. 🙏

So thank God for the ones who stood by you in your darkest moments. And if you’re still waiting for that kind of brotherhood — pray for it. God’s got you. 💯

How strong is your faith? 💭
In Matthew 8, a Roman centurion told Jesus, “Just say the word, and my servant will be healed.” That kind of faith amazed Jesus - faith that trusted His word without seeing proof. 🙏
