The passing of Chester Weger has been deeply felt by his family, his supporters, and the legal team led by Starved Rock Murders podcast host and attorney .

For years, they worked tirelessly to separate Chester’s name from the label of “killer” in the infamous Starved Rock case and to recognize him instead as a wrongfully convicted man.

The Chicago Tribune featured Weger's death on its front page, highlighting not only the end of his life but also the unresolved fight to clear his name. The article recounts his decades-long battle for justice, his 2020 release from prison after 60 years, and the growing body of evidence suggesting his innocence.

Though Chester has passed, the fight continues. We remain committed to clearing his name and seeking accountability for this miscarriage of justice.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Andy's client of nearly eight years, Chester Weger.

Many of you know that earlier this month, our long legal fight to prove his innocence in the 1960 Starved Rock Murders reached a turning point when the judge denied our post-conviction petition.

Despite this outcome, and despite Chester’s passing, the fight is far from over. Andy and his team are actively exploring next steps and will begin sharing more behind-the-scenes details; evidence, testimony, legal arguments, and key moments from the case.

Thank you to all the listeners who have recently joined the story, and to those who have followed from the very beginning. We assure you, you haven’t heard the last of this case.

Chester Weger is getting another shot at justice. From the very beginning, Chester has maintained his innocence In the Starved Rock Murders case.
This month has been incredibly busy as I prepared for his post-conviction evidentiary hearing in La Salle County. Tomorrow—May 28th—is another big day in court, with oral arguments scheduled to take place.
The outcome could have major implications not just for Chester, but for wrongful conviction cases and the justice system as a whole.
