Dubbed a “landmark exhibition” that puts the story of Black British music at the centre, Stratford’s V&A East Museum is set to be inaugurated this spring with its first display, The Music Is Black: A British Story. Chronicling Black music-making in Britain over the span of 125 years, the new exhibition promises to tell the tale of "excellence and struggle, resilience and joy”..

The Music Is Black exhibition celebrates those who have helped shape British music and culture over more than a century, from early greats such as composer and pianist Winifred Atwell – the the first Black artist to have a number one hit in the UK Singles Chart – to modern-day grime stars like JME, whose Super Nintendo used on early music experiments in the ‘90s will go on display.

The majority of Europe's largest music festivals are owned by the same four companies, new research has determined.

According to a report from Live DMA and Reset!, more than 150 major festivals come under four umbrella companies: AEG, Live Nation, CTS Eventim, and Superstruct Entertainment.

The research, titled ‘Who Owns Europe’s Live Music Spaces?’, was published on February 5, and came alongside a visual map showing the connections between each company.

It found that US entertainment conglomerate Live Nation operates around 120 subsidiaries in Europe with a reported turnover of around $16.7 billion in 2022 alone, while CTS Eventim generated around $1.9 billion in sales in more than 20 countries that same year.

It also found that Superstruct Entertainment - which was acquired by private equity firm KKR in 2024 and later came under fire for its owners' stakes in weapons manufacturing companies, the Coastal GasLink pipeline and a number of Israeli corporations that operate in occupied Palestinian territories - owns and operates "more than 80 music festivals across ten countries in Europe and Australia”.

“More than ever, the growing concentration in the live music ecosystem, highlighted by this new map and study, threatens cultural diversity and the independence of artists and producers,” says European Parliament member and Vice-Chair of the Committee on Culture and Education, Emma Rafowicz.

“Europe must take action by limiting vertical integration, separating activities across the value chain, and restricting the ownership of multiple events within the same country or across Europe by a single operator," she says.

Today on Bang Le' Dex : : Rose Red is an established Producer/DJ/Vocalist based out of Chicago, IL. Discovering her passion for music at a very early age, Rose's first influences were rooted in the sounds of Latin, Jazz, Disco, Funk, R&B, and Gospel music just to name a few.

She began DJing in 2000 at 19 after falling in love with Chicago’s house music scene. Inspired by the city’s vibrant energy and legends like Lil Louis, Paul Johnson, and Derrick Carter, she started
digging for records and crafting her own unique, funky sound.

Within a year of getting her start, Rose began gaining attention from promoters and DJ's alike and began playing at venues across the Chicago area, landing her first residency in Wrigleyville where
she ambitiously honed her skills and began making a name for herself within the house scene.

Her unique sound blended elements of house music that range from soulful, groovy vocals to driving jackin, latin, afro, and tech house beats and everything in between. Since then, she has continued captivating audiences across the globe and graced the decks with some of house music's hottest DJ's and producers.

Capable of grooving it out on any dance floor, she has been invited to play on some of the most recognized and respected stages from intimate lounges to large outdoor festivals, to some of the best nightclubs The Windy City and The Bay area have to offer.

Alongside her many live appearances, she has held down numerous residencies, most notably with Housebroken Events in both Chicago and California, on DJ International Radio and Phrostvybe
Radio, as well as at Esmeralda's Caribbean Cocktail Lounge. She currently co-hosts two live stream shows, The Red Lab & The Red Garden on Twitch Nation Music, and is a co-host
and resident on DaBooth312 Radio 88.9FM in Chicago.

In an effort to expand her body of work as a musician, in 2022 Rose Red delved into music production, where she quickly caught the attention of some of Chicago's most prolific house producers and label owners. February 2023 saw her releasing her first EP "Our World" Collaboration with DJ Seven on one of the most well-known house music labels S&S Records with Steve "Silk" Hurley and Shannon "DJ Skip" Syas. "Our World" has been received with great reviews and support from many producers and DJ's within the house community.

In late 2024, she followed it up with her and DJ Seven’s next collaboration “Sneak Up On It” which topped the charts at #14 on Traxsource’s Top 100 Jackin House, was featured on the Weekend Weapons chart, and came in at #8 on the Jackin Essentials chart and #71 on the Hype Chart. It was also featured on Beatport at #1 on the most recommended tracks, #6 in Best New Jackin House, and #6 in top ten releases for January. Her latest collab, “What A Rush” out now on House Global Alliance has been received with rave reviews and she is currently working to bring more of her
unique productions to a dance floor near you, and today we welcome her as our guest live in studio.

As always expect a journey.
