Happy belated 106th birthday to Loyola University’s Sister Jean!

The chaplain of the men’s basketball team was born on August 21, 1919 in San Francisco, California. She eventually moved to the Chicago area, where she’s been for over 60 years!

FIRST LOOK inside the new “Pirates of the Caribbean” themed tavern The Beak and Barrel at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park.

There are various cocktails and non-alcoholic mocktails on the menu. This is the first bar to serve alcohol at the Magic Kingdom. All alcohol has to be consumed in the tavern.

The Beak and Barrel opens next Friday, August 29th. They are taking reservations. Good luck! 🏴‍☠️ 🍺

Does anybody else LOVE the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom? 🚂 🎢

I have so many great memories of this fun family coaster. I loved it as a kid during my first ever visit to the park. MANY years later, I got to ride it with Jonna and captured the photo below. And just last summer I was able to marathon it all by myself in a very unusual and fortunate situation!

The ride is undergoing a refurbishment, and today Disney revealed the special effects they are adding to the sections of the ride where you travel through an underground cavern. They’re adding lighting and other effects to make it “full of phosphorescent pools, shimmering and illuminating iridescent stalagmites and stalactites.” I attached new renderings here. It has also had a lot off track work done during the closure.

I’m glad to see they recognize how special this coaster is and that they are putting the time and resources into making it run well into the future. The ride is scheduled to reopen sometime in 2026.

Walt Disney World unveiled new details about the Muppets makeover of the Rock N Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios.

Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem are headlining their biggest concert ever. The high speed launch coaster will be all about getting you to the show. Heres how the park describes it:

“With the help from our friends at Muppet Labs and a very fast limousine, we’ll take a twisting, turning, and screamingly fun road trip across Hollywood to reach the concert in time. The iconic scenery and landmarks of Tinseltown will feature a Muppet twist.

And throughout the journey, you’ll hear the Electric Mayhem playing some of the most iconic, rockin’ hits in your ears to keep the music and adrenaline pumping. I’m sure G Force Records will release a concert setlist soon.”

This is replacing the previous Aerosmith theme on the ride. It’s scheduled to re-open in 2026.

BEST STORY OF THE DAY: A legally blind man was reunited with his emotional support dog after it was stolen from his backyard two months ago!

Photos show Angel Santiago and his 14 year-old dachshund Bam Bam at Chicago’s 16th District police station, after the dog was dropped off by a man and a woman last night. They reportedly left quickly and didn’t leave any contact information.
