The Independent is completely student run and receives no prior review of its content by anyone other than its student editors. The Independent is published every other week except during summer and seme

ster breaks. Deadlines are nine (9) days prior to the issue in which a contribution is to appear. Views expressed in letters are those of the university community and not those of the Editorial Board. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the content of the Independent, and views presented do not necessarily represent those of the administration, faculty or students. 🚨 Breaking News 🚨

Shots were fired this afternoon near Bryn Mawr & Drake. Chicago Police responded quickly to the scene. No injuries have been reported at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.

Witnesses say multiple police units blocked off the area while officers spoke with community members. Authorities are urging people to stay alert and avoid the intersection until further notice.

This incident is not connected to the School.
