The walls appear to be closing in on Mayor Brandon Johnson.

Just hours after the Chicago Bears announced plans to move their future stadium development to Hammond, Indiana, former Illinois Comptroller Suzanne Mendoza officially entered the race for Mayor of Chicago. Mendoza has been one of Johnson's most vocal critics, repeatedly attacking his administration over rising taxes, public safety concerns, business attrition, and what she describes as a failure of leadership at City Hall.

The timing could not be worse for the mayor.

For months, Johnson and his allies insisted that Chicago was the only city with a legitimate plan to keep the Bears. Yet the franchise is now preparing to leave Illinois, delivering a devastating political blow to an administration already struggling with low approval ratings and growing dissatisfaction among voters.

Meanwhile, Chicago endured another violent weekend marked by shootings and killings across the city, reinforcing concerns about public safety that have become a central issue heading into the next mayoral election.

Tonight on The David Seaton Show:

• Suzanne Mendoza's mayoral announcement and what it means for the race
• Why the Bears chose Hammond, Indiana over Chicago
• Whether Brandon Johnson misplayed the stadium negotiations
• The continuing impact of crime and violence on Chicago neighborhoods
• Business departures and taxpayer concerns
• Can Brandon Johnson recover politically before 2027?
• Is Suzanne Mendoza the strongest challenger to emerge so far?

After three and a half years of controversy, political battles, economic concerns, and public frustration, many Chicagoans are asking the same question:

Has Brandon Johnson reached the beginning of the end of his political career?

Former CPS teacher and principal Assata Moore joins David Seaton for a candid conversation about the educational crisis facing many Black students in Chicago and across America.

Reading scores are declining. Math proficiency remains alarmingly low. Classroom discipline has deteriorated. At the same time, many political activists and media figures insist that systemic racism and white supremacy are the primary explanations for these outcomes.

Assata Moore and David Seaton examine a different perspective.

This discussion explores the role that culture, family structure, personal responsibility, discipline, academic expectations, and community standards may play in shaping educational outcomes. The conversation also addresses controversial topics such as "ghetto graduations," teen takeovers, disruptive classroom behavior, declining respect for authority, and the normalization of anti-academic attitudes in some communities.

Can a society thrive when academic achievement is mocked? What happens when discipline disappears from homes and classrooms? Why are so many leaders reluctant to discuss culture as a factor in educational success?

Join us for an honest and thought-provoking discussion that challenges conventional narratives and asks difficult questions about the future of education and Black America.

Guest: Assata Moore

Black Americans experience higher rates of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease than many other demographic groups. Some activists, academics, and politicians argue that systemic racism is the primary cause of these disparities. But does that explanation hold up when we examine individual choices, diet, exercise, and lifestyle?

On this episode of The David Seaton Show, we examine the growing debate over health outcomes in the Black community. From viral social media trends that glorify unhealthy eating habits to the reluctance of many leaders to discuss personal responsibility, we ask whether culture and behavior deserve more attention than they currently receive.

Can a community improve its health without addressing nutrition, physical activity, and personal accountability? Are political activists focusing on the wrong solutions? And why is it considered controversial to discuss the role that everyday choices play in long-term health?

Join the conversation as we separate ideology from reality and explore what truly drives obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses.
