The day has come!
The young woman from many places🥰
Look at God!
We couldn’t be more proud of the incredible person you are charismatic, driven, compassionate, creative, and compelling beyond measure. From early mornings and long nights, rehearsals to late study sessions, you’ve poured your heart into everything you do. And now, all that hard work has paid off!
You have worked very hard to maintain a very high GPA, selected as a professor’s aide, student leadership positions, chess club, and so many other extracurricular activities. God has constantly blessed you during your college journey. You have been able to study abroad and meet so many awesome people. Against all odds, you stayed faithful to God.
This is just the beginning, Ta’liyah. The world is ready for your light. 🌟
🎶 Keep marching to your own beat.
💪🏾Keep believing in your power.
💖 And never forget you are SO loved.
Congratulations, daughter we love you! We’re cheering you on every step of the way.

Here’s the route for those that want to check us out 🥾🇺🇸
Them: What you be doing?
Me: Being Grateful & Living Life
It’s that time of year again! 😍
On Friday, May 23, 2025, I am hiking 20 miles for myself, my loved ones, all my fellow service members, and in honor of everyone no longer with us.
This is not just a walk; it’s a day of unity, reflection, and action. In this time, I set everything aside to come together, share stories, laughter, and tears, and stand with a community that understands.
I hike for something greater, a movement of hope, remembrance, and change. So, join me, other fellow military veterans & friends on this unforgettable journey to honor, support, take action, and create loving memories 🥰. Let’s break the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide—united, together.
Let’s walk for those who can no longer walk beside us. 🤗
Your generous donation goes towards providing life-changing programs for underserved communities.
(stay tuned for more sociable healing…season 2 The Adventures of Teressa: and behind-the-scenes exclusives 🎙️🤗)

In year 2018, shortly after I retired from the military, I shared a coming-to-age story I self-published, Bravely MisEducated: How I Lost My Voice which portrays events connected to my childhood experiences growing up on the southside of Chicago, IL. The story reveals how I battled with trauma and why I chose to enlist in the United States Army.
After completing my mission in the military, I began developing an online platform to blog about my experiences when I traveled throughout the country and overseas to South Korea, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan. I named my brand Amitza Media Independent. Amitza means brave girl or woman in Hebrew and Amitz is brave boy or man. Amitza depicts the moral and mental strength and the struggle I face throughout my life and how it connects to my spirituality. It’s the pathway to instilling strength, wisdom, love, and value I continue to give to myself and to others.
I often take risks that most people I’m surrounded around wouldn’t usually choose. I know that it is the only way for me to live my life on my own terms in order to discover what my purpose on earth is and who I am becoming. Being a brave woman (Amitza), took time to embrace after the trauma I endured over the years. And it sometimes put me in uncomfortable situations to disappoint others. But after I learned how to say no and focus on what makes my soul happy, I slowly began to feel a sense of courage and duty to share series of events I faced in the past and where I am present day throughout the website I created.
Sociable Healing is a podcast I developed to do my part in bridging the gap between how society influences our behaviors and the culture we set for ourselves that impacts our well-being. I am on a mission to drive honest, relatable, fulfilling, and sometimes uncomfortable conversations on matters that brought fear, anger, and regret to our hearts while also aiming to uplift one another through the success of obstacles we overcame. I want to improve my growth and build better relationships with others because it helps us all learn healthier ways to connect and strengthen our communities.
Yes, I am human and a work in progress that is still learning why I exist. I am also a retired military veteran, author, blogger, and podcaster. And more important, I am a child of God, a mother who loves my child dearly, and I volunteer as a mentor to the youth. It is important that I share my story because I was once that young girl who lived in vulnerable communities without anyone to coach me on how to develop coping skills and techniques to recover from what I suffered.
In this current chapter, I am using a media approach to allow myself to embrace the gift of giving, while developing a platform for others to change their trauma to testimony by sharing their stories and empowering them through my blogs, podcast, books, videos, and community outreach.
I don’t want to lose myself because I’m still stuck in the past. I don’t want to focus as much on what the future holds. I want to be present in the moment and with everything I do because I want to discover more about who I am and give gratitude to life itself. Because if I’m not learning, then I’m not living. 💓
With warm regards,
Teressa
