Friday Night Lights look a little different when you start noticing who turns them on.
And I don’t mean the actual lights.
Tonight, while I was selling raffle tickets in approximately 147-degree heat 😂, I started noticing all the people around me.
The people working the gates & concessions.
The coaches.
The band.
The cheerleaders.
The parents volunteering.
The families driving kids back & forth & filling the stands.
So many people doing their little part to create something that feels like magic when it all comes together.
A football game takes a whole lot of people who never touch the football.
And really, so does almost everything good.
Behind most of the moments we celebrate are people whose names never make the announcement.
Someone brought the food.
Someone stayed late.
Someone drove.
Someone organized.
Someone cleaned up.
Someone simply said, I can help.
I’ve spent this year trying to pay more attention to the things that are easy to miss.
Tonight, under the Friday night lights, I noticed the people behind them.
And there were a whole lot of them. ❤️
Day 247 of listening.
