An audience on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert cheered after hearing Justice Sotomayor’s dissenting opinion of the Supreme Court’s decision to lift restrictions on Los Angeles-area immigrant stops, essentially allowing ICE to stop people based on race and jobs. She wrote in part, “Rather than stand idly by while our constitutional freedoms are lost, I dissent . . . We should not have to live in a country where the Government can seize anyone who looks Latino, speaks Spanish, and appears to work a low wage job.”
