Dancing the cha cha and tango to ‘A Little Party Never Killed Nobody,’ it’s Lauren and Johnny!” 💃🏻🕺🏻👮🏻‍♂️🥂🍸🎉

🎶’Right here, right now’s all we got!’ is exactly what I was thinking as and I took our starting positions for our showstopper last Friday, Feb 27 at annual Gatsby Night! We gave it ‘all we got got got’ and ‘danced until we dropped’ — just as we did every time we rehearsed this routine! Fun fact: Our show day performance is the fourth time we ran it full-out that day 😅 … and I’m so excited the real thing was our best!!! There’s nothing like feeding off the energy of the audience during a live performance. Such a unique experience, and watching it back, I’m so happy to see how confident, present, and alive I felt in these whirlwind couple of minutes dancing with Johnny / Officer Locksteps!

🎶 ’Believe me, it’s the bee’s knees’😉 to get to🍸pour my heart into bringing these characters, this playful story, the Latin / Ballroom technique, our chemistry, and our choreography to life. It really took a lot of hard (fun) work and countless hours rehearsing on my own outside rehearsal, to be the life of the party! I impressed myself many times along the way, and ultimately, it was the best feeling to see everyone smiling, cheering, and laughing 🙏

To Johnny — You already know I love sharing the limelight with you 💚 Can’t wait ‘til next time. Still, the journey to get to show day is my fave part of all this 🥹 We’ve shared a lot of locksteps & laughs over the last month and a half in rehearsals (and in class)! Is the internet even ready for our bloopers?! Thank you so much for not letting go of my hand before my chase turn 😜 More important lol, THANK YOU very much for bringing out the best dance partner in me and for always bringing your A-game. “Gather ‘round, guests of Mr. Gatsby! It’s time for our hired entertainment of the evening —Sari and Johnny! They are ready to delight us with a quick, jazzy Foxtrot & Viennese Waltz as they sip & spin their way through this special prohibition era performance. Here is their roaring 20s rendition of and ’s Dancing With the Stars semi-finals extravaganza to “I Won’t Dance!” Enjoy!”

And just like that, my second spotlight performance at is complete! , you already know….but of course I’ll say it again: I loved learning and dancing this “international silver, maybeee gold” routine with you! SO PROUD of us. Thanks for being the calm to my crazy just before the spotlight became ours. I can’t believe we get to say we recreated a number, wow! Let’s do it again sometime 🤗 Anyone wanna see a blooper reel from rehearsals? (coming soon & it’s goooood🤣).

I’ll admit: behind the joy, fun, and “effortlessness” that you see as we dance is me being locked in, letting my brain trust that my body knows the choreo so I could smile my way through😄. The best part of being a follow with a pro partner is trusting your partner to lead, which I did 💯! Johnny and I did slightly different choreo than we had ever done before without skipping a beat (I didn’t even notice until watching it back). This dance taught me that live performance is truly about doing your best in that moment, together. So happy with my spins & improved frame, thanks to Natalie’s expertise! Big shout out to you, .chicago for: creating a fun script for our whole Gatsby evening, the glamorous decor, and letting me borrow your Parisian coat for my intro that I got to choreograph!

Can’t put into words how fun & meaningful it was to dance cha cha and salsa with tonight so we’ve put it into videos (more to come)!

Stressed spelled backwards = desserts! Though we both have felt stressed about things we can’t control lately (like the weather and crazy summer schedules), we know that focusing on what we can control means we’re doing our best. As many of you know, we have been putting a ton of love + energy into creating a special upcoming event here in Chicago 😅 We are SO excited to bring it to life and enjoy it next weekend 🧺

Hope you treated yourself today, we did🍦Happy Ice Cream Day to all who celebrate 🍨 Thinking of our Bubby Mar and Grandma Sandy today, who both would say their favorite food (haha yes, food) was ice cream. Runs in the fam! It is for sure one of the best parts of summer 😋 Where’s your go-to ice cream spot?
