A Scandinavian Airlines Airbus A330 arriving in Chicago, while we look back at one of the most memorable fan traditions of the 2026 FIFA World Cup: Norway’s “Viking Row.”
Although inspired by Viking heritage, this is actually a modern tradition. Norwegian supporters sit as if rowing a Viking longship and chant “Ro, Ro, Ro” to the beat of a drum. In Norwegian, “ro” means “to row.”
More than just a chant, it symbolizes unity, strength, and the determination to move forward together. From packed stadiums to fan zones around the world, the Viking Row became one of the most iconic sights of the tournament.
From the legendary seas of Scandinavia… to the skies over Chicago. ✈️
