There is something special about being able to support a Black-owned coffee shop right here in our own neighborhood, and I am so glad Nikki and Tracey kept in the South Loop. Their new location at 1900 S. State St. is beautiful, warm, intentional, and exactly the kind of space our community needs more of. We were so happy to celebrate their grand opening this Saturday because having Black-owned businesses in our neighborhood matters. We have four Black-owned coffee shops right here, so baby, there is absolutely no reason to be giving our money to the big corporate machine at Starbucks. I said what I said.
And let me tell you, Momentum did not come to play. Iām a matcha girlie, and their new iced strawberry matcha is so good it should come with a warning. The coffee is always top notch, and now they have added fresh baked pastries to the menu too. The minute you walk in, you are wrapped in the kind of vibe that makes you want to stay awhile ā jazz, R&B, hip hop, or something smooth and relaxing depending on the mood of the day. The walls are curated with art from the legendary Greg Parker of and you can feel the love and intention in every corner. They really took their time making this place feel like home. We did not want to leave, and you will not either. Go check them out, tell them Day and PJ sent you, and definitely get the iced strawberry matcha.
