Also, June was a whirlwind and I’m still thinking about it. Thank you to everyone who came out to the Banned Books Event with Peoria Book Rack, geeked out with me at Chicago Steampunk Expo, and celebrated with Slay the Lake at Chicago Pride Book Fest. Old faces, new faces, all of it meant the world.

My first year! So excited to see all the talent they have lined up.

We are excited to welcome Fannie Price to on June 27th at in Tinley Park! FREE event. All ages. Meet the author! In her childhood, Fannie developed a love of writing and creature features. By the mid-90s, she discovered urban fantasy, and it quickly became her favorite genre to read. After noticing the lack of diversity in the female heroines of the genre she’d grown to adore, Fannie decided to use her writing skills to amplify the voices of Black female protagonists and other underrepresented people in the genre she loves.

Chicago Pride Book Fest is happening June 27th, 2026 at in Tinley Park, from 12PM-5PM. Multi-genre, all ages event. Meet 40+ authors & vendors. FREE event!

Step into the bold and the forbidden at Peoria Book Rack's 2nd Annual Banned Books, Bites & Booze Fest - a night where stories that challenged the status quo take center stage.

Join us outside TAVERN on Prospect for specialty cocktails, live music by Jonny Quest, and powerful readings from banned and challenged books that have sparked conversation for generations. We have the parking lot, large patio with umbrella tables, one of the empty storefronts for vendors and more so lots and lots of room!!!

Enjoy delicious bites from Burgers in the Valley, The Cuterie Cart, and Brick and Ember Pizzeria, as well as connect with featured authors and vendors. We'll celebrate the freedom to read in an atmosphere that’s equal parts rebellious and unforgettable.

We are honored to welcome Darius Bost to on June 27th at . Darius Bost is associate professor of Black Studies and Gender & Women’s Studies at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Bost is the author of the award-winning book, Evidence of Being: The Black Gay Cultural Renaissance and The Politics of Violence. And the co-author of A Black Q***r History of the United States, the first-ever Black history to center q***r voices, this landmark study traces the lives of LGBTQ+ Black Americans from slavery to present day.
