This woman built a business selling chocolate stick gift boxes right from home. She melts chocolate, pours it into slim molds, and tops each bar with freeze-dried fruit, nuts, and citrus slices. Once they set, she packages them into curated gift boxes. But what makes these stand out isn't the chocolate, it's the presentation. So, in 1942, Neil Fletcher started selling deep-fried hot dogs on sticks at the Texas State Fair, calling them corny dogs.

Mac and cheese came to America through Thomas Jefferson, but it wasn't cooked by him. When Jefferson traveled through France, he became obsessed with a pasta and cheese dish, and brought the recipe, pasta, and even a pasta machine back to the U.S. His enslaved chef, James Hemings, prepared it and served it at a White House dinner in 1802. Guests didn't love it at first, calling it too strong. But over time, macaroni and cheese became a permanent part of American culture.
