Hi 👋 friends
Buzz is growing as Nissan prepares the R36, the next-gen GT‑R, marking a big step forward for the legendary Japanese sports car. Details are scarce, but Nissan says the powertrain isn’t finalized. Clues point to electrification—Formula E tech may be used as a testing ground—so a pure gasoline mill looks unlikely given tightening emissions rules.
CEO Makoto Uchida has indicated hybrid systems are on the table, aiming to deliver the performance fans expect while meeting emissions targets. Whether it’s a plug‑in hybrid or some other electrified layout, the R36 is being developed to sustain hard lap after lap at places like the Nürburgring without overheating or frequent recharges.
The car will ride on a new platform, though it’s not yet clear if that’s an evolution of the current Premium Midship chassis or a totally new architecture. Either way, the R36 aims to blend the GT‑R’s storied performance with modern hybrid/electric tech—fueling social‑media speculation, renders, and wish lists that make it one of the most anticipated sports‑car launches in years.
