The man accused of attacking 26 Federal Plaza in Manhattan was arrested in Brooklyn last August. We filmed the arrest.
On August 3, 2025, GrayStak journalist Ryan Lazarus filmed the aftermath of a tire slashing near a Palestine march at Grand Army Plaza. He followed the man involved for roughly half a mile, filming continuously, until NYPD officers arrested him. On camera, police held the man's ID and a recovered knife. The name on the ID: Andrew J. Arrabaca.
Two days later, an assistant district attorney in the Brooklyn DA's Hate Crimes Bureau emailed the van's owner under the subject line "People v. Arrabaca," requesting photos, video, and repair receipts. The van's owner tells us the matter was later resolved. A federal official told NBC News this week that Arrabaca had no known criminal history.
We asked the Brooklyn DA's office what charges were filed and how the case ended. No response by our deadline. A full report is in progress.
