A gift ftom the Plum Village Monastics which was created by Thich Nhat Hanh after he was exiled from his beloved Vietnam because he spoke the truth about that war. For more than 30 year this refuge has grown to be place of comfort and hope allowing untold many, including me, to find their own way home.

I just finished listening to this extraordinarily good podcast. Every woman who wants to maintain a healthy brain should listen to it. My respect for Dr. Lisa Mosconi's work has increased by about 1000%. What she actually says about hormone replacement therapy (among many other things) is much more nuanced than what others say she has said about this topic. It is worth investing your time to listen to the entire podcast.

Rich sits down with neuroscientist Dr. Lisa Mosconi to discuss menopause and brain health, Alzheimer’s and dementia, neuro-nutrition, hormone replacement the...

Notably, cumulative loneliness is more associated with accelerated memory aging in women than men. And it is not just declining estrogen levels that make women twice as likely to develop Alzheimer's as men. Social determinants, like loneliness and perceived invisibility, play a critical and often overlooked role.

Feeling lonely for extended periods of time was associated with more rapid memory decline in those aged over 65.

Delicious and encouraging news: Eating half a cup of blueberries a day can reduce your risk of dementia. Improved thinking and memory were found after just twelve weeks in this study. Many studies are based on animals, often mice. Not this one. Actual live human beings saw an improvement in their cognitive ability and focus and improved blood sugar control. Wow,

Middle-aged people who consume blueberries every day may have a reduced risk of developing dementia, a new study reports.

This is great news that was shared by Dr. Dale Bredesen, a leading light in the field of brain health.

It doesn't need to be intense exercise. Adding just a few more steps a day could help protect your brain from the damaging effects of aging.

Sad news indeed. I read the entire study, and no surprise women were twice as likely to be diagnosed with anxiety than men. And high anxiety over a lifetime increases dementia and Alzheimer's risk. Women also are twice as likely to be diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Is there a connection? Of course, there is a connection. I am frustrated by the accepted view in the medical and scientific community that the increased risk for Alzheimer's in women is due to decreased estrogen after menopause. Well, these are young women. Their higher rates of anxiety cannot be explained by low estrogen levels since their estrogen levels are at their peak during these years. Perhaps it has more to do with their lives.

Study reveals a significant uptick in the prescription of anxiolytics and benzodiazepines in people under the age of 35.

Wow a green Mediterranean diet shows even greater benefits for the brain, than often-cited Mediterranean diet.

Numerous studies have shown brain health benefits of the Mediterranean diet, which consists of high amounts of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fish, poultry, legumes, nuts, and monounsaturated fats (e.g., olive oil) [1; 2; 3].
