A video circulating online shows a confrontation between two drivers in Melrose Park. According to the woman recording the video, her vehicle became disabled in front of another driver’s car, and a tow truck had already been called to remove it.

The woman says she explained the situation to the other driver and even offered to have the vehicle pushed out of the way if the driver needed to leave immediately. According to the video, the other driver then questioned whether the woman understood English, assumed she was in the country illegally, and threatened to contact ICE.

Authorities say the incident happened around 12:23 a.m. on July 2 in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood. According to investigators, four suspects walked up to several people outside a gas station and opened fire.

A 53 year old woman and a 46 year old man were pronounced dead. Two additional victims were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Police have not released additional information as the investigation continues.

The youngest victim in Sunday’s deadly bridge crash has been identified as Vanessa Morales, a 14 year old from Palatine.

Morales was one of four suburban teens killed after a pickup truck fled from Illinois State Police, went off the Cicero Avenue bridge near 69th Street, and struck a train boxcar below around 2:16 a.m.

According to authorities, Chicago police first attempted to stop the vehicle after responding to a report involving someone allegedly pointing a gun from inside it. Police said the driver refused to stop, and the initial pursuit was ended. Illinois State Police later located the pickup truck, but investigators said the driver fled again before the truck crashed moments later.

According to her family, Vanessa was preparing to begin high school this fall.

Vanessa’s father says he believes law enforcement bears responsibility for the events leading up to the deadly crash, raising questions about the pursuit that preceded it.
