🌀 TROPICAL UPDATE 🌀

Edouard is strengthening as it approaches the coast this morning.

Hurricane Hunters found that maximum sustained winds have increased to 50 mph, with the pressure falling to 1000 mb. Edouard is now moving northwest at 8 mph, and the NHC has nudged the track slightly east. Landfall is still expected near the Louisiana/Texas border later today, and additional strengthening is expected before it gets there.

⚠️ For Acadiana, the forecast really hasn’t changed much. The worst impacts remain focused across Cameron Parish and southeast Texas. For most of Acadiana, expect scattered tropical rain bands and occasional gusty winds today, with the possibility of locally heavy rainfall. Coastal Vermilion remains under a Tropical Storm Warning, but the strongest winds should stay much closer to Edouard’s small core. A tornado or two also can’t be completely ruled out across southwest Louisiana.

🌊 The Storm Surge Warning remains in effect from High Island to the Vermilion/Cameron Parish line, where 3–5 feet of surge is possible. Farther east toward Morgan City, 1–3 feet remains possible.
