New fear unlocked... 😩🤢

You go kayak fishing, drive all the way home, and then THIS brushes against your leg at highway speed.

Anyone else ever had a snake hitch a ride in their kayak gear? My best guess is it crawled into an unzipped gear bag at some point during the trip.

Pretty sure it's an Eastern Rat Snake, but it definitely got my attention before I knew that. 🐍😂

Literally was like a jack in the box 😂 I may have been startled. The glide bait wasn't even moving when this smallmouth crushed it. 🎣

The river kept twisting through the trees, and every stretch looked like it could hold a good one. Some days you find a spot. Other days you find a river you don't want to leave.

Muddy water and storms all week had me scrambling trying to figure out where to fish. Sunday was tough, but honestly it turned into one of those perfect chill days anyway — rock hunting, soaking up the sun, and getting everything ready for the Florida Keys trip. Even got a final shakedown run in with the electric kayaks.

Yesterday I hauled the ultralight back out and hit a low head dam stretch I haven’t fished in over a year. Little more controlled conditions with all the rain lately. Found a smallmouth pattern pretty quick, lost a really big one early… then about an hour later this 18” smallie ate.

Third confirmed Fish Ohio smallmouth of the year. 👌🏻
