The longer I stay clean, the more grateful I become for the things I used to overlook.

Waking up without panic.

Answering the phone without fear.

Looking in the mirror without shame.

Keeping my word.

Being dependable.

These things may seem small to someone who has never struggled with addiction.

But for an addict in recovery, they’re huge.

There was a time when I couldn’t trust myself.

A time when my family couldn’t trust me.

A time when I couldn’t imagine living any differently.

Today, I live a life built on honesty, accountability, and gratitude.

Not because I’m special.

Because I finally became willing to accept help.

Recovery gave me my life back one day at a time.

And every day clean feels like a gift I never expected to receive.
