Vince spent the day in Poughkeepsie with IBM, getting a closer look at how they are bringing AI directly into the z17 mainframe platform.
IBM is running its own watsonx and Granite models alongside open source frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow on Z. That AI work is powered by the built in accelerator inside the Telum II processor and the Spyre Accelerator card prototype shown here.
