Sitting here going over some project plans and realizing something simple:
I did a lot this year. I learned a lot. I changed a lot. Like a molting snake, I shed a whole skin.
At the end of the day, I am a vocalist and a parent. Not a full band. Not some faceless industry product. Not a bot.
Just me. A nerd who loves computers, technology, and dark trap, metal and EDM clubs.
What is real about Serpentus;
Serpentus has always been built on real people.
At the center is me, Nytheria Bedinghaus, my spouse, and our family standing behind the project.
Serpentus stands for the serpent within each of us.
Not in a cartoon evil way, but as transformation, growth, and survival. The part of you that refuses to stay small.
Our reality is a shared one. Humanity is a collective hallucination we keep updating together. I am human. I think about philosophy, psychology, existence, from Nietzsche and Jung to the stars over our heads.
Change your perception and your reality shifts with it. Heaven and hell are reflections, not separate worlds. They cannot exist without each other.
Love your neighbor, but respect your own self. Keep your nose clean, not brown, and stop hiding behind fear of being disliked.
What Serpentus is, honestly
Serpentus lives on in everything that has been released so far.
It is a hybrid vocal project. Some songs use digital tools and AI shaped versions of my voice. All of it still comes from my brain, my writing, my performance, my direction. My skills in a DAW.
I am not a traditional “band” and I am done pretending that I am.
I stand for individuals as individuals. The whole “you NEED a band” thing is just another conformity rule that never fit Serpentus as a vision or project.
What is more punk than being a transfemale black metal, industrial, cybercore vocalist who builds her own backing tracks, walks in with nothing but herself, a laptop, and a microphone, and still sets a room on fire live?
On misgendering and deadnaming
To the few who misgender or deadname me, or make jokes about it:
You are allowed to waste your energy. If I live in your head that much, that is your problem, not mine. I will be over here existing, coiled happily in my own lane, working on my craft.
Where I am going now
My body hurts. I am tired of running myself into the ground trying to play by rules that were never made for artists like me.
Venues and parts of the industry are already pushing back on “hybrid solo artists,” and I am not interested in begging for permission to exist.
So I am resetting.
I want to focus on TikTok Live again, just singing, doing vocal acting, and having fun.
I want to make music mostly for my own use, for clips and streams, not to chase some imaginary “industry standard” that requires me to be a full production house alone.
I am also open to just being a vocalist in a band. I have range, experience, and a lot of styles under my belt. I simply do not want to keep killing myself as a full-time engineer when I can do the part I love for less money, less time, and less pain.
We are not trying to be a giant mainstream machine. That is not us.
We are a family. We are underground. We use efficient, ethically sourced digital tools. We stop apologizing for not doing everything “the old way.”
What I stand for
We are not mainstream, we are the underground.
We are not the system, we are a family.
We reject rules that are not law.
We refuse conformity where our rights are pushed down.
Get your witchy selves out of hiding and be confident in something.
Be confident in the fact there is no ceiling on what we can eventually become.
Humanity started with nothing. No fire, no wheel.
Now we have planes, boats, computers, guitars, DAWs, sheet music, 16th notes, tone, pitch, rhythm, hiphop, EDM, heavy metal, distortion, gutturals.
We got here because edge dreamers refused to stay in line.
Who cares if every tool in the chain is “human.” The toilet is not human but most of us are grateful to have one, with toilet paper, every day.
I am done playing by rules that drain me dry.
From here on, the focus is simple:
Fresh start.
TikTok vocal performance.
Music for the joy of it.
Looking for the right band to lend my voice to.
We are the underground.
We are the machine beneath the surface.
Much love.
