Democratic judges have an uphill battle to change the 6-1 Ohio Supreme Court, where Justice Jennifer Brunner is an island unto herself in a sea of Republican justices. But she and another judge making a run for a seat in November sense a change in the winds when it comes to Democratic support, both in the judicial system and elsewhere.

Regina Brett: Mother’s Day is approaching fast.

If you don’t know what to give your mom, give her something that will last longer than flowers, chocolate or brunch at her favorite restaurant, although you can still give her all of that, too.

Mother’s Day is approaching fast.

Ohio native Josh Kramer never expected that his career would lead him to New York City. For the last five years, in the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple, Kramer worked to advance policy and advocate for the Jewish community on what felt like a global stage. But all the while, the Buckeye state lingered in the back of his mind, he said.

“I joke that I moved to New York to try and recruit as many people to live in Ohio as possible,” Kramer, who grew up in Shaker Heights, told the Akron Jewish News.
Effective June 1, 2026, Kramer will move back to his home state and assume the role as the next CEO of Ohio Jewish Communities, an announcement made public on March 31.
