Politics Hits B**gโs Sporting Community; Senator Kpehe Allegedly Blocks Deputy Coach Appointment
Reports reaching our desk indicate that B**g County Senator and Chair of the B**g County Caucus Sports Committee, Hon. Johnny K. Kpehe Sr., has reportedly instructed the B**g County Sports Steering Committee to halt the appointment of Coach Moses Borbordee as Deputy Coach of the countyโs football team.
According to sources, Senator Kpehe has allegedly directed the Steering Committee to instead appoint Coach Numeni Dweh, whom he reportedly favors for the position.
The senatorโs alleged interference appears to undermine the Steering Committeeโs established procedures for selecting coaches ahead of the upcoming National County Sports Meet.
A few months ago, the Steering Committee, through its Public Relations Department, announced vacancies for Head Coach and Deputy Coach positions.
Following the announcement, eight candidates, including Alex F. Anderson, Numeni Dweh, Joseph M.V. Carter, Petannie Mulbah, Monroe D. Winn, Peter Segbee, M. Joseph McCauley, and Mohammed D. Kromah, applied for the Head Coach position of the menโs football team.
Coach Moses Borbordee was the only applicant for the Deputy Coach position, making him the automatic and legitimate candidate for the role.
Similarly, Porkpah Flomo was the sole applicant for the Kickball Head Coach position, while no application was received for Kickball Deputy Coach.
On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the Steering Committee conducted interviews for the coaching applicants at the David Kuyon Sports Stadium in Gbarnga City.
The process was designed to ensure transparency and independence from political influence.
Eight individuals attended the interview session, including three representatives of the B**g County LFA Sub-Association, Mr. George Philip Mulbah (Sports Steering Committee Representative), two media officers, Mr. Paul Sackie Wungko (Chairman, Sports Steering Committee), and one invited stakeholder.
Out of the eight applicants for the Head Coach role, four were present and interviewed.
Afterward, a nine-member panel voted between the two top performers, Petannie Mulbah and Numeni Dweh.
Petannie Mulbah secured five (5) votes, while Numeni Dweh received four (4), making Coach Petannie Mulbah the winner.
Coach Moses Borbordee, being unopposed, was declared Deputy Coach of the menโs football team.
For kickball, Coach Porkpah Flomo was confirmed as Head Coach, pending document verification.
Following the process, Superintendent Loleyah Hawa Norris and the Steering Committee officially unveiled Coaches Petannie Mulbah and Porkpah Flomo as Head Coaches for football and kickball, respectively.
However, acting on the alleged directive of Senator Johnny K. Kpehe Sr., the committee and the superintendent reportedly withheld the formal announcement of Coach Moses Borbordee as Deputy Coach, a decision that has stirred discontent within B**gโs sporting community.
The committee is now reportedly compelled to announce Numeni Dweh as the Deputy Coach for the menโs team in the coming days.
However, sports pundits in the county say the move risks reintroducing political interference into county sports, a challenge the Steering Committee had sought to eliminate through transparent recruitment procedures.
