Such an incredible human. We will miss you.

Such an incredible human. We will miss you.

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the untimely death of our dear friend Carol Augusto. We know very little except that she was found yesterday in her bed, in her home in Mexico. It appeared to the neighbor who found her that she had passed in her sleep. Carol was a force in the beauty industry. No one was more passionate about it. She was recognized by Horst Rechelbacher as the first million-dollar sales person for Aveda. She served as the Vice President of Sales for Neill for many years, and more recently was the heart and soul of the Serious Business conference. It goes without saying that Carol will be deeply missed by all of us. We commit to carry her legacy forward.

🕊️ Remembering Rick Landry 🕊️

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Rick Landry, a cherished friend, mentor, and invaluable member of the Farouk Systems family. Rick's unwavering dedication and visionary leadership as our former Chief of Security and VP of International Education have left an indelible mark on our hearts and the beauty industry.

Rick wasn't just a colleague; he was my first and last boss at a salon in Louisiana, who later became a dear friend. His passion, commitment, and boundless enthusiasm illuminated every corner of our company, inspiring us to strive for excellence and innovation.

As we mourn the loss of a beloved soul, let us cherish the memories we shared with Rick and honor his remarkable legacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Join us in commemorating Rick Landry’s extraordinary life and legacy.

Rest in peace, dear Rick. Your spirit will forever guide us. 🕊️

Congratulations to all the finalists! So excited for you!

Cosmo Prof’s 4th Annual World of Texture will take place on Monday, February 26, 2024. This virtual event aims to serve as a hub for students, professionals and educators to come together and deepen their understanding of texture and curl patterns. The curated content will help encourage and build confidence to help you explore a range of perspectives and strategies when welcoming new textured hair clients to your chair. Learn how to style, color and care for textured hair, especially tighter curl patterns such as 4a, 4b and 4c.

Classes will focus on textured hair expertise, including dry-cutting techniques, moisture retention techniques, best practices for coloring + highlighting type 4c hair, and product recommendations.

This year's special guest host is Celebrity Curl Specialist and Olaplex Educator Christin Brown. Brands hosting classes include DevaCurl, Olaplex, Wella, The Doux, Schwarzkopf and many more. Espres and Schwarzkopf's New IGORA Zero will also host workshops.

Attendees in select states will have the opportunity to attend their choice of 16 Continuing Education-eligible classes and walk away with up to 7 CE Hours.

Beyond World of Texture programming, licensed professionals can also take advantage of the Color & Curl Concierge program, which is available only at select Cosmo Prof store locations. These 1:1 sessions provide stylists with free, personalized expert advice on products, services, and business solutions.

"We recognize that there is an ongoing education gap when it comes to access and resources for textured hair training at all levels. As allies to the community, we aim to be a part of the solution. This year's virtual event will build upon past success and bring the latest techniques to life, enabling stylists to refine their skills and gain confidence," shares April Holt, group vice president of stores for Beauty Systems Group.

Sport Clips Haircuts, a leading franchise dedicated to men’s and boys’ hair, is awarding up to 10 $5,000 scholarships for currently enrolled barber or cosmetology school students.

Sport Clips, with almost 1,900 stores with a presence in all 50 U.S. states and Canada, has awarded more than $152,000 in scholarships since 2007 to promote quality cosmetology education. The Sport Clips Scholarship Program was created to provide financial support to qualified students enrolled in American Association of Cosmetology Schools. The goal of the program is to help students gain skills, training, and education to begin a successful professional career in the ever-growing field of cosmetology.

“We’ve greatly increased the amount of these individual scholarships, because investing in the future of the haircare industry is vital to the continued growth of our business and to the careers of these talented individuals,” says Julie Vargas, vice president of career opportunities for Sport Clips. “Sport Clips wants to recognize students with a passion for hair who are investing in themselves through cosmetology education. It’s important to note that we’re not only contributing to their professional aspirations but also the overall excellence of the industry with these scholarships. And should they decide to come to work with us following graduation and licensing, we’ll have ongoing education and training along with the most comprehensive support programs of any haircare provider to continue to motivate them in their careers.”

Scholarships are offered to students in good standing with their current program, maintaining at least 80 percent attendance, an 80 percent grade average, and demonstrated financial need. Applicants must submit a video essay answering questions about their ambitions to pursue a career in cosmetology. These scholarships will be applied toward tuition and education expenses. No more than two scholarship recipients will be chosen from an individual school per year.

BREAKING: Beautynova Group, backed by Bluegem Capital Partners, which operates in North America under the subsidiary concept USA, and globally markets milk_shake, Depot, Medavita, NO INHIBITION and simply zen, among other coveted European beauty brands, today named Cory Couts as president, North America. Known for building both entrepreneurial and legacy global beauty brands, Couts will lead the Italian company’s major expansion efforts in North America.

Couts has brought his signature practices and style to a variety of leadership roles in the professional hair care arena for more than two decades. As global president of Kao Corporation’s salon division, he oversaw the 360-degree strategies of trusted brands Goldwell and KMS and was the architect of the company’s acquisition of the Oribe brand. Most recently, he served as senior vice president, global professional sales for Olaplex, Inc., a fast-moving leader in omni-channel haircare. In his new role, Couts will report directly to Stefano Banfo, CEO of Beautynova.

“To ignite our aggressive expansion plans, we needed an experienced and well-respected leader who understands both the North American market and the professional hair care industry in depth and relates to his team and their customers as a true partner. We found that in Cory Couts,” says Banfo. “Above all, this is a people business, and Cory has achieved great success through his leadership style and commitment to hairdressers. Add to those his keen insights for building teams, systems and strategies that help distributors and salons make a difference, and we are ready to embark on the aggressive North American expansion that will bring our vision of putting hair well-being first.”

Adds Couts, “Stefano’s vision for Beautynova and its brands, and how they can support the industry, has intrigued and inspired me—it’s a refreshing take on how to move both the company and the professional beauty industry as a whole forward. That, combined with strong brands, high-performing products and a company goal to be known as ‘the home of responsible beauty,’ creates a winning combination for growth.”
