Unfortunate Public Service Announcement... But hopefully helpful info to all of you who do a lot of online shopping.
Recently it has become a very common practice for USPS, UPS, and Fedex to "hand off" packages to a 3rd party carrier called "OnTrac". (Primarily for the last few miles of local delivery work).
They don't ask for permission to do this... They just do it. Unfortunately, OnTrac is pure trash. They are very prone to losing packages, mistreating packages, marking them as "delivered" even when they aren't delivered, stolen packages, falsified delivery attempts and just about anything else you can imagine.
**I currently have multiple packages with issues with OnTrac... One shows it was delivered but the package never showed up, the lady never had anyone show up on ring camera, buyer filed a report and they closed the case without even doing anything to resolve the issue**. This is just one example.
The only recourse is for the receiver / buyer to go complain at your local office of whomever handed the package off. If USPS handed it off to OnTrac and there is an issue, you will likely get no help from OnTrac, so we should all start putting pressure on the people who officially own the shipment. If I pay USPS to deliver a package, it is their responsibility to get it there.
I've had quite a bit of issues just this week with packages that were handed off to OnTrac which is completely out of the control of the person shipping a package. A quick search on Google about this company yielded the below info. We should all put pressure on the original contracted carrier when OnTrac issues occur.

"OnTrac is widely criticized for being a bad delivery service due to
frequent issues with unreliable tracking, significant delays, damaged or lost packages, poor customer service, and unprofessional delivery practices (like leaving packages exposed), stemming from its regional focus, reliance on third parties, and potential for low driver pay/high turnover, leading to inconsistent service compared to national carriers. Customers often report packages being marked "delivered" when they weren't, or being stuck in transit for weeks, with little recourse for resolution.
Common Customer Complaints
Tracking & Delays: Tracking is often inaccurate or stalled; packages get stuck in local areas for days, with delays blamed on minor weather.
Delivery Issues: Drivers leave packages in plain sight (e.g., on top of gate boxes), leading to theft, or mark them delivered without actually dropping them off.
Lost/Damaged Goods: Packages frequently go missing or arrive damaged, with high-value items often targeted.
Poor Support: Difficulty reaching live customer service to resolve issues, often getting generic responses or endless investigation loops." OnTrac
