Not a great day to be on the lake, but an excellent afternoon to observe the action.

In the market for your own private island?

Totally undeveloped (and without utilities) Mouse Island is for sale for $5 million. Located just 1,000 feet off the tip of Catawba Island in Ohio, the 7-acre island is zoned for residential use, but Howard Hanna listing agent Kyle Recker envisions much more for the land.

"I think if they allowed you to do it like Rattlesnake Island that would be perfect," he says, referencing the ultra private private club on 85 acres in Lake Erie. "There’s a lot that you can do with it."

According to Recker, the current owners have not used the property and are "just looking for someone to take it over and do something with it."

In his book, "Ohio's Lake Erie Islands," author Chad Waffen says there was once a house on the island and it was rumored to have a tunnel beneath it connecting it to the mainland. He speculates that it may have been used as part of the Underground Railroad or possibly to move liquor during the Prohibition era.

Further adding to the island's lore, it was once owned by the family of President Rutherford B. Hayes.

And, just in case you were wondering: "Yes, you can change the name," Recker says.
