Our Lake Erie Living Photo of the Week was captured by Gabe Leidy Photography in Lorain, Ohio.

"Have NEVER seen clouds that looked quite like these!" Leidy wrote. "This was a scene during this morning’s epic sunrise in Lorain, Ohio — where fall color is still hanging on in pockets.

"Afterward, I embarked on a 60-mile bike ride across Lorain Co. — starting & returning to Lake Erie. It’s been an interesting fall, with a refreshing rally in the latter-half of October, following drought-stricken conditions early on."

Monday, Nov. 10, will mark 50 years since the Edmund Fitzgerald sank, taking with it the lives of all 29 crew members aboard. The lead tugboat at the 1958 launch of the ship will be on permanent display in Toledo, Ohio, when the next phase of Metroparks Toledo's Glass City Riverwalk opens this spring thanks to a collaboration with National Museum of the Great Lakes.

Matt Shiffler Photography captured this brown pelican fishing in the waters of Lake Erie yesterday.

"An incredibly rare sighting, seeing this Pelican fish the waters of Lake Erie was unique," Shiffler wrote in his post. "The dynamic of the Pelican flying in front of the Cleveland skyline was a fun photo to get.

This Pelican has been hanging around for a week now and hope he makes it back down to the south again soon before it gets too cold."

Nov. 10 marks 50 years since the Edmund Fitzgerald sank — and Gordon Lightfoot’s daughter will be performing the ballad that memorializes the event — and the 29 lives lost.

❤️ On Sunday, Nov. 9, Lightfoot’s daughter Meredith Moon plans to sing “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” in concert at the Valentine Theater in Toledo, Ohio.

❤️ “Playing the song feels like a good way to help honor the story that I obviously grew up knowing a great deal about, thanks to my dad,” Moon says. “I’ll try to be his representative now that he can’t be there. On a spiritual level, it feels like something I have to do.

❤️ Lightfoot made it a point for the song to be historically accurate, even changing the lyrics in live performances after new information came to light.

❤️ At nearly six minutes long, it’s longer than songs that typically got radio airplay, and the subject matter didn’t seem conducive to a top-40 hit. But the song spent 21 weeks on the Billboard charts and remained a staple of Lightfoot’s live performances until his death in 2023.

"The lights are on but nobody's home."

That's how our Lake Erie Living Photo of the Week, taken by of Instagram, was captioned. We haven't seen the Marblehead Lighthouse captured quite like this before — and the shot feels just eerie enough for Halloween.
