FORECAST DISCUSSION 🌤️
______________________________________________
Good evening, everyone! Get ready to open your windows and enjoy some truly fantastic weather this week. The dominant feature of our forecast is a significant cold front that will be pushing through the region tonight and into Monday. This isn't just any front; this powerful system is bringing with it a large, unseasonably cool air mass from Canada, something we don't often see in late August. This will act as a broom, sweeping away the oppressive humidity we've been experiencing for weeks.
As this front passes, we can expect a noticeable drop in dewpoint temperatures, which is the key to that comfortable "fall-like" feel. The weather pattern across North America is set to change dramatically, with a large upper trough (low pressure) over the eastern U.S. and an upper ridge (high pressure) over the Rockies. This alignment creates a strong north-to-south flow, providing an unobstructed corridor for this refreshing Canadian air to spill into the Southeast. For us here in Northeast Georgia, this means a welcome break from the usual summer heat and a sneak peek into what the coming autumn has in store.
Once the front has passed, a strong high-pressure system will build in and dominate our weather through most of the week. This will result in mostly sunny skies, calm winds, and lower humidity. By Friday and into the weekend, the high pressure will begin to weaken and move east, allowing more moisture to creep back in from the Gulf. This change will bring a return of isolated shower and thunderstorm chances, along with a slight increase in humidity and temperatures. The overall trend, however, is a week of incredible weather.

This is the day we've been waiting for! The high-pressure system from Canada will be in full control, giving us a beautiful day of mostly sunny skies and low humidity. It will feel much more like September than August. The perfect day to get outside.
Wednesday, August 27th, 2025
High 81°F • Low 59°F • Rain 0% • Conditions: Sunny ☀️
Another stunner! Expect a repeat of Tuesday with calm, comfortable conditions and plenty of sunshine. Dewpoints will remain in the comfortable 50s.
Thursday, August 28th, 2025
High 81°F • Low 63°F • Rain 10% • Conditions: Partly Sunny ⛅
The high-pressure system begins to shift east, and a little more moisture will start to creep into the atmosphere. This will lead to partly sunny skies and a very slight chance of a pop-up shower, but most areas will remain dry.
Friday, August 29th, 2025
High 82°F • Low 64°F • Rain 30% • Conditions: Scattered Showers 🌦️
The humidity will begin to increase, and with it, so will our rain chances. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout the day, especially in the afternoon. Keep an eye on the radar if you have outdoor plans.
Saturday, August 30th, 2025
High 82°F • Low 66°F • Rain 20% • Conditions: Partly Cloudy ☁️
The weekend starts off with a mix of sun and clouds. The moisture and warmth will continue to build, but rain chances are slightly lower than on Friday.
Sunday, August 31st, 2025
High 79°F • Low 65°F • Rain 30% • Conditions: Scattered Showers 🌧️
The last day of the month brings a return of scattered showers and storms as a weak low-pressure system moves in. Temperatures will be a little cooler due to the increased cloud cover and rain chances.

SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK ⚠️
______________________________________________
The severe weather threat for the upcoming week is very low. The cold front on Monday is not expected to have enough instability to produce widespread severe thunderstorms. The primary weather process responsible for keeping our severe weather risk in check is the strong high-pressure system that will bring dry, stable air into the region for the majority of the week.
______________________________________________
Day 1 (Monday, Aug 25th):
Overall Severe Weather: Low
Tornado Risk: Low
Hail Risk: Low
Damaging Wind Risk: Low
Flooding Risk: Low
Discussion: The system is primarily a "humidity-buster" and not a severe weather producer for our area. Any storms will be isolated and non-severe.
______________________________________________
Day 2 (Tuesday, Aug 26th):
Overall Severe Weather: Non-existent
Discussion: A high-pressure system will be in control, bringing very dry and stable conditions. No severe weather is expected.
______________________________________________
Day 3 (Wednesday, Aug 27th):
Overall Severe Weather: Non-existent
Discussion: Similar to Tuesday, the high-pressure system will continue to provide stable atmospheric conditions, keeping the threat for severe weather at zero.
