Don't fall for the hype: A word about sensationalized weather forecasts! Good Afternoon everyone Timothy Hayes here coming to you from The Northeast Georgia Weather Center HQ in beautiful downtown Commerce, GA!

You've probably seen images like this making the rounds on social media and YouTube—sensationalized model runs showing major hurricanes threatening Florida. We have to say this every year, folks: this is irresponsible and misleading.

Some pages and groups are cherry-picking single model runs, often 15 days or more into the future, and using them to create attention-grabbing headlines. Their goal is to drive traffic, get likes, and generate shares, all for their own profit. They do this by scaring people with highly inaccurate and unlikely scenarios, causing unnecessary panic and worry.

It's crucial to understand that no one—and we mean NO ONE—can accurately predict weather patterns that far in advance. While mid-range models can provide some insight, these long-range, outlier runs are not reliable and should not be trusted.

For accurate, professional, and reliable weather information, please turn to sources like the National Weather Service, local news outlets, or weather groups recognized by them. The Northeast Georgia Weather Center, for example, is a Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) Ambassador recognized by the NOAA and the National Weather Service. We collaborate directly with the NWS to provide accurate information and to both inform, educate, and provide critical severe weather information to the public.

We promise that this "two major hurricanes" scenario is highly unlikely to play out. We and other credible weather organizations will provide you with accurate information that shows the entire picture, not just one cherry-picked model run. We don't play with people's emotions or spread misinformation for likes and shares.
If you ever see a weather post that concerns you, feel free to reach out to us. We will give you the real scoop. Stay far away from pages that sew fear like this because they have no clue what they are doing! Stay safe, and stay informed with trusted sources.

📘 FORECAST DISCUSSION

A slow-moving tropical moisture plume, associated with a developing disturbance offshore, continues to stream into Northeast Georgia. This has triggered widespread clouds, humid conditions, and scattered to numerous thunderstorms early in the week.

A Flood Watch is in effect through Tuesday due to heavy rainfall in places, with totals of 1–3 inches in spots across the region
Cobb Courier. As the week progresses, a weakening front and building subtropical high pressure will gradually reduce storm coverage and humidity, leading to more stable and drier conditions by the weekend.
