The East Cleveland Narrator - Ohio, USA Digital archives are at bit.ly/ecnarrator1. I'm M. LaVora Perry, the founder and publisher of The East Cleveland Narrator.

In the East Cleveland Narrator grassroots print newspaper (2014–2015), East Clevelanders received factual information about our city and told their own true stories. I've lived in East Cleveland since 1992. My ex-husband and I raised our two daughters and son here. They attended Chambers Elementary School. I started The East Cleveland Narrator in 2014 after the editor of a local paper that constan

tly posted negative content about our city told me: "Nothing good ever happens East Cleveland." Fed up with newspaper coverage of East Cleveland that never highlighted our positive stories, I started The East Cleveland Narrator to do it. I stopped publishing in 2015 due to lack of funding. Read archived issues at

America has had centuries of chattel slavery, ‘slave’ patrols,Black Codes, Jim Crow, and mass incarceration.

Americans witnessing ICE: “This isn’t who we are! They’re Nazis!”

No.

St. John’s Episcopal Church in my hometown of Cleveland was called ‘Station Hope’ in the years before the Civil War. Enslaved Black people hid in the bell towers before getting on boats to cross Lake Erie to Canada.

Sound familiar? This IS who we are. And if we want to change that, America has to grapple with that.

Right now, ICE is literally waging war on the United States. In Minnesota, they threw a flash bomb into the car of a black family returning from their son's basketball game. All of the car's air bags inflated. Children were in the car. Their infant stopped breathing. The mom had to get instructions on the phone on how to give her baby car.

If you think this won't happen to you, you're delusional. If you don't care that it's happening to others, you're not the kind of person you think you are.

Tonight we’re diving into the ongoing wave of federal violence and terror tied to ICE operations in Minnesota and across the country, and the latest developm...

BREAKING: The woman murdered by ICE has been identified as Renee Good, age 37.

She leaves behind a young son whose father passed away a few years ago.

“There’s nobody else in his life,” Timmy Ray Macklin Sr., the boy’s grandfather, told the Minneapolis Star. “I’ll drive. I’ll fly. To come get my grandchild.”

Her mother swears she wasn’t involved in any protesting.

“Renee was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known,” she said. “She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving and affectionate. She was an amazing human being.”

Renee will be missed, and may she rest in peace. Justice must be served against her killer - and against all the people responsible for siccing these goons on innocent people.

Our Story

MISSION The EAST CLEVELAND NARRATOR was a print and digital newspaper and a platform in which all community members—whose views were diverse and sometimes opposing—could provide factual information and tell their own true stories of East Cleveland. The NARRATOR ceased publication after the May 2015 issue due to a lack of funding.
