I had an absolute whirlwind romance with my now fiancé. We are getting married this summer!!!!
We went ring shopping on a whim 2ish months into dating. We knew we were absolutely going to get married before that but we were near the mall and he suggested we just go for fun.
We were looking at lots of styles although I’d already researched and decided I like an oval-shaped diamond. I am VERY money cautious so when my fiancé told me the price point he was comfortable with I was sure to stay below it.
In the clearance section of the 2nd store, I saw this ring and tried it on. I was hesitant to say “yes” right away but instantly fell in love. The salesperson (who was extremely kind and helpful) said that we could always upgrade after a few years. I was slightly offended and immediately told my fiancé that I wouldn’t be interested in an upgrade. Yes, the diamond is smaller than current trending rings but it’s so pretty and I love how it fits into our whirlwind story. Not to mention that it gives slight Tangled Sun vibes which I didn’t realize until several people commented after we got engaged.
I think her comment got into my fiancé’s head. On multiple occasions, after his proposal, he asked if I really liked it and talked about potential future upgrades.
I still love this ring and stare at it often. I hate that the little comment still pops into my head sometimes.
Size doesn’t matter.

A relative I lived with for 16 years died at age 99 some years back and left me this diamond and platinum pin. Her father had given it to her mother as a gift near the beginning of the 20th century. He was Sicilian and a woodworker by trade and made this tiny wooden box to hold it. I wear it as a tie pin in her memory.

I bought this ring for my girlfriend after four years together, but her sisters say it's too small and now I'm panicking about whether she'll be disappointed when I propose.
This 2.12 carat twisted band cost me $2800, which meant financing $1500 because that's all I can afford right now on my salary. Her sisters insist she wants something over 3 carats, showing me options that cost $4400 or more, money I absolutely don't have without going into serious debt.
My girlfriend is pretty materialistic about jewelry and has been looking at bigger stones online, so I know if she hates it, it'll be written all over her face the moment I get down on one knee. That's not exactly how I pictured starting our engagement, with her trying to fake enthusiasm while secretly wishing for something else.
I even created an account on Tedooo app because I know how much my girlfriend loves the creative community there and always finds ideas and inspiration from other people, so I joined the jewelry community to ask other jewelers what they think about my choice. The responses were mixed, which didn't help my confidence at all.
My parents say if she truly loves me, the size won't matter, but her sisters know her taste better than anyone and they're saying she'll be disappointed. I'm torn between going into debt for a ring or risking her reaction to something smaller than her dreams.

UPDATE on ring
A few days ago I made a post about the ugly ring our local jeweler tried to present me with and it got pretty popular. I mentioned how I wasn’t pleased with it, the owner/goldsmith came out to speak to me and offered to fix it at no charge.

As I mentioned on that post, I promised to update y’all. Well here it is! Everything I wanted and so beautiful. 😍 I really think I got lucky being in such good hands with the owner. My ring is a 3 ct marquise in a 14k gold solitaire setting

Engaged, yay! But odd reaction from friend
We got engaged a few weeks ago and I’m so happy! It’s a simple round solitaire, 1.2ish D diamond, on a size 5.5.

I’m super excited, but I had an odd reaction from a close friend recently- her first time seeing the ring, she commented that it didn’t look real and said something about no one getting rounds lately. I’m conflicted on how to process her comments. It’s made me a bit sad, but still in love with my ring and trying to enjoy the moment!

Finally received ring but noticed possible issue with bezel Am I being picky?
I just received my engagement ring in the mail today. It’s an emerald cut diamond in a bezel setting. In the custom CAD provided before ordering, the corners of the bezel were angled to match the angled corners of the emerald cut. However, when I look at the actual ring, it looks like the bezel is smooth all around and almost like it’s made for a cushion cut. I’ve attached some photos but wanted to check if I’m imagining things or if I should actually send it back to be fixed.

So fragile, help!
I got engaged in April and my fiancé designed the ring himself and it’s GORGEOUS but the band is so thin and the diamond is so big. I’ve been worried for months that I would bend it and it finally happened, it got caught on the cabinet. 😩 is there anything I can do to reinforce it or does it just need a new setting.
