...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT THIS
EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREEN BAY HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT
THIS EVENING.

* SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON. SOME OF THE
HEAVIER SNOW SHOWERS WILL PRODUCE SNOWFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2
INCHES PER HOUR...AND REDUCE VISIBILITIES AT TIMES DOWN TO A
HALF MILE OR LESS. THE SNOW WILL END BY MID EVENING.

* A TOTAL ACCUMULATION OF 3 TO 6 INCHES IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE
AREA...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE ON GRASSY AREAS.
ROAD TEMPERATURES WELL ABOVE FREEZING SHOULD HOLD SNOW AMOUNTS
DOWN...BUT THE INTENSE SNOWFALL RATES MAY CREATE A SLUSHY
ACCUMULATION ON ROADS.

* THE HEAVIEST SNOWS OVER THE FOX CITIES AND GREEN BAY WILL LIKELY
OCCUR BETWEEN NOW AND 4 PM.

* ROADS ARE LIKELY TO BECOME SNOW OR SLUSH COVERED AND SLIPPERY.
HEAVY SNOW SHOWERS AND GUSTY WINDS THIS AFTERNOON COULD RESULT
IN VERY LOW VISIBILITIES AND MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW
WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW OR SLUSH
COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE
DRIVING. THE LATEST WISCONSIN ROAD CONDITIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY
CALLING 511.

...SNOW FROM A MAJOR-LATE WINTER STORM SPREADING SLOWLY NORTH
ACROSS THE AREA...

SNOW FROM A MAJOR LATE-WINTER STORM WAS SLOWLY SPREADING NORTH
ACROSS CENTRAL AND EAST-CENTRAL WISCONSIN. AT 400PM...RADAR AND
AIRPORT OBSERVATIONS INDICATED SNOW FALLING ALONG AND SOUTH OF
A LINE FROM MEDFORD...TO JUST SOUTH OF WAUSAU...TO STEVENS
POINT...TO THE SOUTH SIDE OF GREEN BAY...TO TWO RIVERS. THE SNOW
WAS ADVANCING NORTHEAST AT ABOUT 20 MPH. THE LEADING EDGE OF THE
SNOW SHOULD ADVANCE TO A LINE FROM TOMAHAWK...TO ANTIGO...TO
OCONTO FALLS...TO JUST SOUTH OF STURGEON BAY BY 530 PM. THE SNOW
COULD BE MIXED WITH A FEW DROPS OF RAIN AT THE ONSET...BUT
PRECIPITATION WILL QUICKLY CHANGE TO ALL SNOW AS THE INTENSITY
INCREASES.

TEMPERATURES WERE STILL GENERALLY AT OR A DEGREE OR TWO ABOVE
FREEZING IN THE AREA WHERE THE SNOW WAS FALLING. AS A
RESULT...THE MAIN ROADS HAVE REMAINED IN FAIRLY GOOD CONDITION
THUS FAR. HOWEVER...TEMPERATURES ARE LIKELY TO DROP A COUPLE
DEGREES AS WE APPROACH DUSK. THAT...COMBINED WITH CONTINUED
SNOWFALL WILL LIKELY LEAD TO A RAPID DETERIORATION OF TRAVEL
CONDITIONS BETWEEN 500 PM AND 700 PM.

NORTHEAST WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO GUST TO 25 TO 30 MPH IN CENTRAL
WISCONSIN...AND TO 25 TO 35 MPH IN EAST-CENTRAL WISCONSIN. SO ONCE
SNOW BEGINS TO ACCUMULATE ON THE GROUND...SOME BLOWING AND
DRIFTING WILL ALSO START TO OCCUR.

TRAVEL WILL BECOME VERY DIFFICULT BY LATE EVENING. IF AT ALL
POSSIBLE...TRY NOT TO TRAVEL DURING THE PEAK OF THE STORM. IF
YOU MUST TRAVEL DURING THE STORM...IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO KEEP A
FLASHLIGHT IN YOUR CAR. TAKE ALONG FOOD AND WATER IN CASE YOU
BECOME STRANDED. THE LATEST WISCONSIN ROAD CONDITIONS CAN BE
OBTAINED BY CALLING 511.

DRY AIR OVER FAR NORTHERN WISCONSIN WILL CAUSE THE NORTHWARD
ADVANCE OF THE SNOW TO SLOW DURING THE EVENING. AREAS ALONG AND
NORTH OF A LINE FROM RHINELANDER TO CRANDON TO WAUSAUKEE SHOULD
REMAIN SNOW-FREE THROUGH AT LEAST MID-EVENING.

WET SNOW AND GUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS.
