In just over a week, I’m getting my tonsils evicted—because apparently, my life wasn’t dramatic enough already. My surgeon, calm as ever, says, “I tried to prescribe codeine, but the pharmacy flagged you as allergic. You’ll need something strong. Oh, and you can’t speak for three weeks.”

Three. Whole. Weeks. Of silence.

The odds of me pulling a Helen Keller for three weeks are about the same as strapping an odometer to one of Elon’s rocket ships and expecting it to stick to school zone speeds—completely absurd and borderline offensive.

Sure, monks manage vows of silence, but they’ve been training their entire lives. Me? I’d need a monastery, a pressure washer of holy water, and a personal blessing from the Pope to make it through lunch without saying something.

By Day 2, I’ll be launching a monk-inspired app called “Shut Up and Breathe.” By Day 5, even the monks might break their silence just to tell me to knock it off.

Vegas has me at 8 to 5 odds I don’t make it three hours, and honestly, they’re being generous. If I somehow survive three weeks of silence, someone better build me a statue, because that would qualify as a modern-day miracle.

Is anyone out here eating actual food since Christmas, or are we all just feral at this point? My diet is 90% stale cinnamon sugar pretzels, 10% Ferrero Rochers, and 100% questionable life choices. I’m one chocolate ball away from declaring it a new food group.
