Did your team get the “W”?

Should we jump all the way to the deep end?…

Yeah, why not. If your team lost they, can’t be considered for any best ever type of list. That “L” takes you out of the running, immediately. 😂🥃

Epic organizational failure.

The only possible hope for a good outcome from this is if Deshaun Watson plays well enough that the Browns are able to trade him for some form of compensation. But, if he does play that well it moves them out of a better draft pick. There should be no scenario where he plays well enough to re-sign him.

Playing Shedeur Sanders does not have a drawback. He either plays well enough to take a chance on building a team around him, on a financially beneficial rookie contract, or he plays bad enough to put the Browns in position to draft their next potential franchise QB.

It’s hard to imagine this was anything but an owner forced decision.

Browns Should Start Shadeur Sanders

Records are made to be broken.

Added games to an NFL regular season schedule only make such a record more likely to fall.

The problem that exists is longevity. Reid would need another five years of averaging 10 wins a season to get there. McVay would need another 24 seasons at the same rate. Those are the only two I believe have a chance to get there.

If I had to put my money on one or the other, I would go with Reid. I have an easier time convincing myself that Reid will coach for another 5 years than I do McVay coaching for another 24.

So, that would then beg the question: If Andy Reid breaks Don Shula’s all time win record, would he have an argument for replacing whoever you may consider to currently hold the title of greatest coach of all time?

The sky has fallen.

To tie into our nonsense…”the night is always darkest before the dawn”.

The entire system has to crumble in order for there to be room for a new and better system to take its place. This is all part of that destruction.

Now, let’s not confuse things. I’m not happy with the current state of college athletics. However, I am in favor of the transfer portal and NIL. But, I believe both have been abused and twisted into forms that should have never been. Athletes deserve a cut of the pie and should have an opportunity to change their circumstances if the circumstances they agreed to have also changed. Neither should be an unlimited pool to continuously dive into.

- Everyone gets 5 years of eligibility, no exceptions; use them wisely.

- Every school has the same, fixed amount that a collective can pay their athletes from.

- Athletes are free to sign their own deals, outside of the school, for their own NIL (no different than any other college student).

- Everyone has 2 transfers available to them. The first allows an athlete to participate in their sport immediately. The second will require a one year ineligible period (this does not change the 5 years of eligibility rule).

- If an athlete declares for a draft of any kind, signs any form of contract, or receives any form of compensation from a professional league, their eligibility is automatically void; zero exceptions.

These are the basic building blocks. There are a few other ideas I’d be more than happy to discuss if anyone wants to go down the rabbit hole any further (they make some big changes to college football, specifically).
