Those hoping to enjoy a dinner on 16th Street or drinks by Union Station were interrupted Friday night by a legion of people marching and chanting throughout downtown Denver.

Hundreds of demonstrators, many holding signs featuring photos and slogans criticizing Donald Trump’s presidential administration and his immigration enforcement policy, marched, chanted and played music in protest of the death of Renee Good, 37, earlier this week. https://buff.ly/1f0Zaai

Jimmy Sengenberger: "Yet the water project seems particularly ripe for claims of retaliation against Colorado — and possibly Boebert herself. Consider Trump’s other veto: a Republican-sponsored bill supporting flood protections for Florida’s Miccosukee Tribe, apparently vetoed because the tribe criticized Trump on immigration. Are both vetoes part of a pattern?"

Congress failed Thursday to override President Donald Trump’s veto of a Colorado water project that has been in the works for over 60 years. It’s one of two back-to-back vetoes, the first of his…

When Mountain Vista Community School learned that one of its teachers was the recipient of nationwide recognition and a $25,000 cash prize during a morning assembly, the teacher in question seemed among the least enthused by the news on Thursday.

While her students and colleagues erupted in cheers around her in the packed gymnasium, the soft-spoken, sixth-grade math teacher, Shana Engel, froze as the spotlight suddenly landed on her.

“I think it took a while to register that my name was called,” she said. “I felt kind of nervous, but very thankful at the same time.” 🔗 Read more: https://buff.ly/Wxwx7EE

Music can help us heal, even though nobody’s quite sure why.

But that’s what it did for Erin Spencer, a Colorado Springs flutist and composer, who was so inspired by memorials and a vigil for the victims of the 2022 Club Q shooting that she composed a piece of classical music, “Somewhere Bluebirds Fly.”

In lieu of attending New York Fashion Week in February, the Galleries of Contemporary Art at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs present the next best thing: “House of GOCA: Stardust,” an avant-garde fashion and wearable art show Feb. 20 at Ent Center for the Arts.

Heads up: Tickets for last year’s inaugural event sold out, so don’t dilly-dally. This year’s theme is devoted to the mystery and majesty of the universe. https://buff.ly/5QdpBmu

The vibrations of vocal cords fill your ears well before you step inside Evergreen Cemetery’s historic chapel.

For this All Souls’ Day Cemetery Sing in November, about five-dozen people, bundled up in thick sweaters, scarves and woolen hats, sit side-by-side on plastic chairs inside the unheated 1910 chapel’s mint-green walls, drawn together by a mutual obsession: sacred harp singing, also called shape note singing.

This is no regular church or community choir. There is no performing for an audience, and there are no harps. There is only singing loudly to each other because you love to sing, and you love the sound of four-part harmonies. https://buff.ly/otwuSoM
