The Older Americans Act has quietly supported older adults since 1965, funding the care, meals, rides and connection that help people age with dignity.

On July 14, we’re joining a national Day of Action to honor its 60th anniversary, and to call on Congress to protect and expand these vital programs.

Because aging well should never depend on your zip code.

Too Old for Jury Duty? Colorado Says No.

A bill that would’ve let Coloradans 72 and older opt out of jury duty was vetoed by Governor Jared Polis, leaving many older adults frustrated and unheard.

The BEACON is saddened to learn of the passing of Daniel Giffin, youngest son of Torie Giffin, owner of the Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort. Daniel bravely battled brain cancer for over six years before passing late last week.

The Buffalo Lodge continues its regular schedule of weekly activities and live music as a tribute to Daniel’s enduring spirit.

Cards may still be sent to Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort, 2 El Paso Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80904.

The family requests donations in Daniel’s name be made to the Children’s Hospital of Colorado.

Our thoughts remain with the Giffin family during this difficult time.
