🚨 Calling on all prayer warriors! ‼️

Greg Wurster and his son Andrew were the first people on the scene to help Nathan when he was hit and left to die. Greg just so happened to be a retired medic, you can’t tell me God isn’t in the details.

They both took the time to come to Nathan’s benefit that we hosted, and Greg had given Nathan his medic jacket. It’s a gift that we will always treasure.

I received a message this morning that Andrew was hit by a car while riding his electric bike to the gym. He is currently in critical condition. My heart breaks for this family, he is such an amazing kid.

Please pray for comfort and healing over Andrew. Pray that God would be so close to his family, and that the doctors and medical team working to help him survive would be gifted with divine wisdom.

Life is not fair. But God is still good, and my heart is so expectant for what He’s going to do in this situation. 🤍

I owe you an apology. 🥹

My full intention was to do a live video to hang out with you and update you on what’s been going on with me. But the last few days have taken a lot out of me. My goal is to update in the next few days 🤍

Multiple times, my doctor has let me know that my healing will not be all uphill, that there would be dips, twists and turns along the way. Admittedly, my current blood level is about half of what it should be, so my energy levels are essentially non existent at times.

This year has looked nothing like I thought it would, which has been the ongoing theme of our life these last few years. But God is constantly showing me how present He is and how I can trust Him, even when it feels so scary to do so.

I’d love to catch up and hear what you’ve been walking through or have been blessed with lately. 💕

It has been a hot minute since I’ve given updates, and man do I have some incredible news to share! 🤍

There’s been a lot stirring in my heart and mind the last couple of months, and I’m planning on doing a little cozy chat tomorrow here.

What I’ll say for now is even though life doesn’t look like how I hoped it would, God has been so faithful.

You just have to hear how good God is.

When I put Judah to bed, I play Bible stories for him on Spotify. Months ago, one night after I had played one, a sermon from a pastor I had never heard before came on. That message was taught by Bobby Chandler, and I admired his reverence for God’s word and application to daily life. I become a regular listener of Authentic church, and his messages were pivotal for me in the months that followed.

Being in Charlotte for She Speaks, I had asked my sweet friend Erica Ogden | Personal Account if we could visit Authentic Church since we were going to be SO close!! It just so happens that the Sunday we went was their FIRST Sunday in their new building, and I got to meet Pastor Bobby and share with him how much his messages have ministered to me. He even took the time to pray over us, and his words were so timely. 🤍

After church, Erica and I made our way to the MOUNTAINS!! My heart was so full. We spent the day exploring a town called Blowing Rock and taking a drive to take in the beauty.

I had no idea that during this time, my blood levels were once again dangerously low. The next day I’d find myself in the ER instead of flying home. But, God.

He has been so incredibly faithful to me and sustained me. I had this trip planned for months, and it took so much courage to say YES to going with where I am in my healing journey. The blessings of this time far outweigh the fear that tried to win.

It’s pretty crazy how quickly things can change.

With clearance from my care team, I traveled to North Carolina to spend time with one of my dearest friends and attend Proverbs 31 Ministries | Biblical Encouragement She Speaks conference.

After everything that’s happened over the last few months, it honestly took a lot of courage to go. I had to continually quiet the “what ifs,” refuse fear, and trust that God would take care of me.

And He did.

He met me in so many unexpected ways. He spoke to my heart, opened doors for incredible conversations and connections, and gave me the sweetest, most needed time with my friend, Erica Erica Ogden | Christian Life & Brain Coach 🤍

I was supposed to fly home on Monday, July 20.

That morning, I woke up with my heart racing, the same terrifying feeling that first started this whole journey months ago. It felt like my heart was doing somersaults in my chest, and I knew I needed to go to the ER.

After checking my heart and doing a CT scan to rule out blood clots in my lungs, the doctors determined my body was reacting to severe anemia. On top of that, I was still fighting a UTI and recovering from sun poisoning.

I received two units of blood and, by God’s grace, was cleared to fly home to my family the following day.

This healing journey has been full of unexpected twists. One day I feel almost like myself again, and the next I’m reminded that my body is still recovering from significant trauma.

The encouraging news is that I am responding to the treatments. My bone marrow is beginning to recover, and while my doctors expect it will still be another couple of months before my blood levels stabilize, we’re finally seeing signs that we’re moving in the right direction.

I’m so grateful to be home with my amazing husband and my beautiful babies.

Thank you to every person who prayed, checked in, encouraged me, and carried our family through another unexpected hurdle. We have felt those prayers every step of the way.

God isn’t finished writing this story yet. 🤍

It’s been a little quiet around here lately.

To be honest, these past few months have felt like living from appointment to appointment… and even week to week. There have been days where I’ve caught myself constantly scanning my body, wondering what each new symptom means and praying for good news at the next appointment.

June 23 marked two years since Nathan’s motorcycle wreck. That day always brings a flood of emotions. I’m still in awe of how God protected his life, and I’m still believing for continued healing, especially for his drop foot. Looking back reminds me how much we’ve walked through together, and how faithful God has been to carry us.

I recently met with my primary care doctor, who has practiced medicine for 50 years, and he told me I have one of the strangest cases of anemia he has ever seen. 😳 I had to laugh because… of course I do.

Last week, I had an appointment in Sioux Falls, and I cried when I saw one of my lab results. For the first time since March, my bone marrow has produced the highest number of baby red blood cells it has made during this journey. It may seem like a small number to most people, but to me it felt like a glimpse of hope. 🤍

I am going back to Sioux Falls tomorrow for more lab work and a second dose of treatment to help calm my immune system. Admittedly, my nerves are a little high tonight in anticipation of what those numbers read.

There is so much of our story that I haven’t been able to share publicly yet. I’m praying that in the coming months I’ll be able to tell more of what God has been doing behind the scenes.

If this season has taught me anything, it’s that resilience is often built in places we never would have chosen, and God’s faithfulness becomes even more beautiful in the middle of the pain. I’m learning to lean into gratitude instead of fear, one day at a time.

One quote I keep coming back to is from Susie Larson:
“What God allows, He redeems.”

I don’t know exactly what the next chapter holds, but I truly believe we are standing on the edge of redemption. I believe the Lord promised me the story of Joseph, and I look at this beautiful painting every single day and hold on to that hope.

Thank you for continuing to pray for our family, to encourage us, and to walk this road with us. We feel it more than you know. 🤍
