Gordon Goodwin, Bandleader of Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, Dies at 70

The news was announced on December 8th that Goodwin passed away while surrounded by his loving family, from complications of pancreatic cancer.

Goodwin was a prolific composer and arranger whose work spanned jazz, big band music, and scores for film and television.

He worked with a wide range of artists, including Ray Charles, Christina Aguilera, Johnny Mathis, John Williams, Natalie Cole, and Quincy Jones.

Goodwin’s arrangements and method books have inspired thousands of young musicians worldwide. He was also the host of a nationally syndicated jazz radio program called Phat Tracks with Gordon Goodwin.
