Meet Paxton — my 5-year-old grandson and lifelong Hug Rocker. 💚⚽

Hug Rocks have been part of his world for as long as he can remember. He loves painting them, handing them to people, and especially hiding them like secret treasures for someone to find.

He recently painted this Hug Rock person and when I asked what message he wanted to put on the back, he proudly declared:
“Chicka Chicka BOOM BOOM!”
…followed by the best little belly laugh you’ve ever heard.

I gently tried to nudge him toward something sweet and mushy. Nope. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom or bust. 😂

He may not be the mushy type, but his heart is huge.

The soccer ball rock in his hand? That’s one I made just for him to celebrate his very first soccer season. ⚽💚On the back there is a special message from me to him.

And the funniest part? If Paxton sees a painted rock anywhere — no matter what it says — he immediately declares:
“It’s a Hug Rock!”
No questions asked. Because to him, kindness just looks like that.

Messages like this remind me why I started Hug Rocks. Even if it doesn’t make it to the map or the official page, it still finds its way into hearts across the world. Kindness travels far beyond what we can see.

🧡 Today, I think this Hug Rock was meant for me.

I created it to remind someone — anyone — that they make a difference in this world. Little did I know, I needed that message myself.

Sometimes we pour so much love, energy, and hope into others that we forget to pause and let it pour back into us. Today has been one of those days. A day where I needed to be reminded that the difference I make matters, too. That my heart, my efforts, my simple acts of kindness still ripple out, even if I can’t always see where they land.

So I’m keeping this one close for now. Letting it be a little hug to my own soul.
