The law of first mention takes us back to Melchizedek in Genesis 14:18 — the first in Scripture revealed as both King and Priest. His name points to righteousness, but his title as King of Salem reveals him as a King of Peace.

In the order of Melchizedek, Jesus (Prince of Peace) shows us who we are called to be — Kings who govern with grace and Priests who minister with mercy.
