Hey fam,

Unfortunately hurricane Erin hit the Outer Banks pretty hard so our show tomorrow needed to be postponed. If you were planning on attending - hand tight- we will be rescheduling soon. Good news is that our venue fam down there are ok! So we’re sending good recovery vibes their way with a plan to visit soon. ❤️

With that being said…. Anyone in the Baltimore/Annapolis/DC/Richmond region have a need for a Russ show or know a venue who’d be willing to pick me up for tomorrow (Saturday)?

I can do 3 to 4 hours of music and have my own gear. Any leads would be appreciated. Worst case scenario - I hang in the Bay for a day. So either way all is well.

Can’t say enough wonderful things about Charlottesville hospitality.

Huge thanks to Andrew and crew at Ace Biscuit & Barbecue. We showed up unexpectedly and not promoted due to a recent change of management and somehow we slipped thru the cracks. They were cool enough to let us setup, put on the show and still honor the previous agreement despite not even having a music program at this time. Lopaka Rootz successfully chased away an 8 top before the end of his first song! 😂 Jokes. They were already finished but we had some laughs and It felt good to make some new friends in town. 🙌❤️ Check out the Biscuit if you’re ever around C-ville.

Also - another big thanks to my dude Tom Harple and crew at our other BBQ music/fam spot Vision BBQ for making sure I had some amazing snacks for the road and a smile on my face!

Tour continues on to Lowkey Taco in Pittsburgh tonight. Music starts at 5pm, all ages and FREE SHOW!

The more you know 🌈 🐝 🌼🛣️

The West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) is actively involved in creating pollinator areas along roadsides and at rest areas. These areas, often featuring native wildflowers, aim to provide habitat for pollinators like bees and butterflies, supporting their role in the state's ecosystem and agriculture. The WVDOH is collaborating with other agencies like AmeriCorps and the US Fish and Wildlife Service on these initiatives.

I’ve long been a fan of Edgar Allen Poes story. So much in fact that my song Eastcoast describes his “final scene”. These aren’t the lyrics to Eastcoast but… this is a piece that I wrote in 2021 that I came across today while going through my work.

“Black eyes like a Raven beaten
and lost for its own Lenore.
It was only lonely and foresaken
to rap upon a chamber door.
For it too was lonely foolish Edgar
who woes weeping on the floor.
You would hath not sat alone
had you welcomed in the Nevermore.”

- in other words. Don’t fear what you don’t understand, good change comes in many forms. Sometimes we blindingly choose our own chamber.
