What’s working in business right now?

And maybe more importantly… what’s not?

That was one of the questions I asked Dr. Gwen during our conversation, and her answer was a reality check for anyone thinking about starting a business or trying to grow one.

The business world is changing fast. Strategies that worked five years ago may not work today. Markets shift. Customers change. Technology evolves.

Success belongs to the people willing to adapt.

Whether you’re an entrepreneur, small business owner, or someone with a dream of starting something of your own, this is a conversation worth hearing.

What do you think is working in business right now? And what’s not?

Congratulations to our Mayor-Elect, Isaiah Hugley.

A few months ago, we had the opportunity to sit down and have a conversation with him during his campaign, and we are grateful for the time he shared with us.

We also want to recognize and thank every candidate who stepped forward to serve our community. Running for office requires sacrifice, courage, and a willingness to put yourself before the public, and that deserves respect regardless of the outcome.

As Columbus moves forward, our hope is for unity, collaboration, and a shared commitment to making our city stronger for everyone. The election may be over, but the work of building a better community continues.

Congratulations to Mayor-Elect Isaiah Hugley, and thank you to all who participated in this election season.

Families are feeling the pressure.

Higher grocery bills. Rising insurance costs. More expensive housing. More expensive everything.

During this conversation, the focus wasn’t on politics—it was on everyday people trying to make ends meet.

The question was simple:

What can local government actually do to help families today?

Not ten years from now. Not after another study. Not after another election.

Today.

Whether it’s creating economic opportunities, managing taxpayer dollars responsibly, supporting local businesses, or lowering barriers for growth, families are looking for solutions not excuses.

What do you think local leaders should be doing right now to help working families in Columbus?

“What issue is Columbus not talking about?”

When I asked that question, I expected to hear about crime, jobs, or education.

Instead, the conversation turned to something many people rarely discuss: the cost of the jail.

The argument? Whether you agree or disagree, this is a conversation every taxpayer should understand. If a new jail costs hundreds of millions of dollars to build, who ultimately pays for it? What does that mean for future generations, city services, and the future of Columbus?

These are the kinds of conversations we need to be having openly.

What do you think is the biggest issue facing Columbus, Georgia right now?

I asked Becca Zajac a question that most candidates probably don’t get asked:

“What’s a lie that politicians tell voters?”

Her answer was honest, direct, and might surprise you.

Whether you’re interested in local politics or just tired of hearing the same promises every election season, this is a conversation worth listening to.

Do you think politicians tell voters what they want to hear, or what they actually believe?

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Becca Zajac, candidate for Columbus City Council District 7, for a conversation about the issues impacting our city and the people who call District 7 home.

We discussed everything from crime and poverty to economic opportunity, community growth, and the future of South Columbus. Whether you agree with her views or not, I believe it’s important for voters to hear directly from those seeking to represent them.

I appreciate Becca taking the time to join me for an honest conversation.

At the end of your life, what do you hope people say about you?

It’s a question we don’t ask often enough.

When I asked Terrence Flowers this question, his answer wasn’t about money, success, or recognition. It was about impact, character, and the lives he was able to touch along the way.

Legacy isn’t what you leave behind—it’s what you leave in people.

Check out this powerful moment from our conversation.
