Casey Billings Search & Rescue said this perfectly. If you see damage posted on my page it is either because I just rolled up on it or it is after I have exhausted all other efforts to assist and I am about to leave the area to let first responders, and linemen do their jobs. I get in, do what needs to be done, help any way I can, and get out.
As part of Team Dominator Storm Recovery, our mission is simple: help people before, during, and after disasters.
That can mean storm recovery, medical aid, welfare checks, clearing roads, helping stranded motorists, or responding to emergencies we come across while traveling. Many times I’ve cut away from a chase, whether following Reed or anyone else, to stop and help someone in need.
You may hear me talk about some of those calls afterward, but there’s one thing you’ll never see from me: a camera pointed at someone on their worst day.
You’ll never see POV footage of me rendering aid, filming injured people, or using someone’s destroyed home for content. Not once during a rescue have I thought about pulling out my phone to start recording.
I do my best to keep everyone updated on social media, but there are some moments that aren’t meant for views, likes, or engagement. There has to be a line, and for me, that line is respecting the dignity and privacy of the people we’re there to help.
The mission will always come before the content.
