Welcome Social Work Interns
Welcome our new NASW Ohio interns—Jess, Darcy, and Sincerity! Each brings unique experiences, passions, and perspectives to the team, and we are excited to support their growth as future social workers.
Jess is an MSW distance student at the University of North Dakota. She also holds an MA in forensic psychology from UND and a BS in criminal justice from West Liberty University. Originally from Wheeling, WV, she has lived in Ohio with her husband and three children since 2019. Her professional background includes work as a substitute teacher, probation officer, family advocate, human resources staff for the Columbus Division of Police, and interim director of a Goddard School. Jess’s social work interests include the role of psychedelics in individual and community well-being, as well as advancing understanding and support for Autism and other forms of neurodivergence. She is passionate about social justice, advocacy, and exploring macro-level practice, and is excited to be part of the NASW Ohio team.
Darcy is a BSW student at Capital University with a passion for social justice and mental health advocacy, especially within the LGBTQIA+ community. While initially focused on substance use, their education and field experience broadened their interests to policy work and advancing culturally competent change in Ohio agencies. Outside of school, Darcy volunteers with the Mid-Ohio Market, online mental health support groups, pet adoption fairs, and organizations supporting the houseless community in Columbus. They are excited to engage with the community during their time with NASW.
Sincerity Gilliam is a senior at Ohio Dominican University majoring in Social Work with a minor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. She brings strong leadership experience as both a student leader and manager at a top food company. Her interests in social work focus on youth mental health, access to care, and advocacy for underserved communities, with a long-term goal of opening a counseling agency for minority youth. Originally from Pittsburgh, she now lives with her dog, Ace, and is excited to grow through her time with NASW.
