Open Letter: Learning to Love Myself First ๐
Dear Me,
For a long time, I mistakenly believed that love was an elusive entity that I had to pursue, something that could only be obtained through someone else's validation, attention, or approval. However, as time passed, I came to realize that the most significant and enduring love story I will ever experience is the one I have with myself.
Cultivating self-love has not always been an easy endeavor. It necessitated confronting my flaws, forgiving my past transgressions, and learning to recognize my inherent worth, even when others failed to do so. It involved setting boundaries, prioritizing peace over turmoil, and acknowledging that I do not have to compromise my identity in order to be loved.
I have come to understand that when I prioritize self-love, I no longer feel compelled to seek validation from others; instead, I attract it. I do not lose myself in relationships; rather, I share myself freely and authentically. Loving myself teaches others how to love me as well.
So here's to me - and to anyone still navigating their journey of self-discovery. You are worthy, whole, and sufficient, all on your own.
