I haven't told many people this yet, but I was given the opportunity to join the racing team in 2024.

I'm super excited to continue smashing PRs in the water and can't wait to get longer triathlons under my belt this year!

4 years sober.

I’m crazy lucky to have never gotten arrested. To have never gotten into a drunken brawl, to have never killed (let alone hurt) anyone, to have never so much as ruined anyone’s life during my bouts with alcohol.

Counting the number of nights I drove home after five too many would hurt my head. Counting the nights I blacked out into oblivion would break me.

But I didn’t have a problem.

Let that one sink in, because it’s probably a tale you’re familiar with. If not one you’ve told yourself, then surely they’re words you’ve heard bouncing around the booths of your favorite tavern.

Quitting drinking was never meant to be a permanent solution. It wasn’t even meant to be a solution, it was a challenge. I dared myself to quit for a year to see what would happen. I wanted to see just how good life could be without alcohol influencing me.

I was blown away by what happened next.

What drives you?

One might be surprised by the number of times it’s been asked what 2237 means. It’s no simple answer. In my mind, 2237 is the height of the crag I aim to climb in 2020; the number of pages I aim to read each month; the number of minutes I aim to meditate each year.

Like so many aspects of our daily lives, the narrative we spin in our minds is so much more interesting than reality. 2237 could simply be a combination of my two favorite numbers, but whatever allure there was previously is wisped away.

Born over a lifetime of iterations, 2237 Designs became a realization after tried attempts and learned experiences — which is simply an eloquent way of saying I’ve experienced a lot of failures to get to a point in my life in which I finally understand the meaning of happiness.

The meaning of 2237 may be blurred by obscurity, but in truth it’s a combination of everything that brings joy to my life and those lives close to me. Building websites, podcasting, growing relationships, rock climbing, reading, writing and 2,237 others.
